Zendaya & Robert Pattinson’s Wedding Gets Derailed by a Shocking Secret in Trailer for New A24 Drama

Just saw the new trailer for The Drama, and honestly, I’m already excited! It stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in what looks like a really fun romantic comedy. Mark your calendars – it’s hitting theaters on April 3rd!

The trailer begins with a couple joyfully dancing as they prepare for their wedding. They then share a conversation about what they’ll say in their vows, reminiscing about their first dates and how they met. Over a sweet, romantic soundtrack and loving moments between them, Robert Pattinson’s character, Charlie Thompson, playfully tells his partner, “You don’t have to give a speech.”

I was chatting with some friends about the new A24 film, and things are sounding really unsettling. Apparently, there’s this whole thing where a couple is pushed to reveal the worst thing they’ve ever done before tying the knot. From what I hear, Pattinson’s character drops a confession that totally throws everyone off balance and completely alters the relationship between the couple. It sounds like a seriously intense movie!

Zendaya appears upset while taking wedding photos with Pattinson and handling other wedding arrangements. Their relationship is clearly struggling, and Pattinson remarks, “True love is complicated.” The situation escalates dramatically when Zendaya pulls a knife on Pattinson, who responds with a dry, “It’s just…there’s some drama.”

A24 has kept details about their new film, The Drama, mostly under wraps, and the plot itself doesn’t reveal much about the central mystery. The trailer suggests this secret is huge – several characters appear horrified and deeply affected when it’s revealed.

Alongside Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, Mamoudou Athie (known for Archive 81), Alana Haim, Hailey Gates, Zoe Winters, Michael Abbott Jr., and Hannah Gross also star in The Drama. While specific character details are still under wraps, the trailer suggests the supporting cast will be central to the unfolding drama as Emma and Charlie navigate relationship troubles before their wedding.

Kristoffer Borgli, the director of Sick of Myself and Dream Scenario, helms The Drama. The film is produced by Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone. A24, a company celebrated for its independent films and TV shows, has released and produced many popular and critically acclaimed movies in recent years, including Lady Bird (2017), Hereditary (2018), Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022), and a forthcoming release in 2025.

The Drama Joins A24’s Stacked 2026 Lineup of Films

Although audiences will have to wait until April for The Drama, A24 has several other films coming out soon. One of these is Pillion, a new erotic comedy from Harry Lighton. It follows a shy man (Henry Melling) who begins a BDSM relationship with a mysterious biker, and it will be in theaters on February 6th.

A24 has several upcoming releases, including John Patton Ford’s How to Make a Killing, which is coming out later this month. In April, alongside The Drama, audiences can expect Mother Mary, a psychological thriller by David Lowery. The film centers on a pop star and her connection with a fashion designer, and stars the actress playing the role of Mother Mary.

A24’s The Drama hits theaters on April 3, 2026.
