With the live-action Legend of Zelda movie about a year and a half away from release, Nintendo may have decided to share a sneak peek after some early footage leaked from the New Zealand set.
Nintendo revealed the first official photos of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason dressed as Link and Princess Zelda through the Nintendo Today app.
Before this movie, Ainsworth was most recognized for his voice work in Disney’s live-action Pinocchio. He’s also been in Netflix’s series The Sandman and the horror show, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Bragason has appeared in several productions, including the series Three Girls, The Jetty, and Renegade Nell. She also played a prominent role in The Radleys, a comedic take on vampire stories released in 2024.
Nintendo announced actors Ainsworth and Bragason would star in the film back in July, and they are currently the only confirmed cast members. While not officially announced, actress Dichen Lachman, known for her role in Severance, was reportedly seen on set and appears to be playing the character Impa. Nintendo and Sony haven’t released any details about the remaining cast, so that information is still unconfirmed.
Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Zelda, is producing the movie and has asked fans to be patient while they wait for it to come out.

I’m really excited about the new Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes movie! Wes Ball, who directed the Maze Runner films, is directing it, and the script is being written by Derek Connolly – he wrote Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, which was surprisingly good, so I have high hopes!
The Legend of Zelda will hit theaters on May 7, 2027 after it was pushed back earlier this year.
