According to Nintendo’s confirmation, given to TopMob, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not come with the Expansion Pass DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This DLC can be purchased separately.” The initial report was made by Reddit user raptormelonsite, who received information from the support team at My Nintendo Store UK.

After its debut in March 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received two downloadable content (DLC) packages related to its expansion pack. The Master Trials DLC introduced a Trial of the Sword challenge for players, as well as Hero’s Path and Master modes, a travel medallion to facilitate faster movement, and additional features. Later on, The Champion’s Ballad DLC offered more extensive story content. In 2021, a Japanese version of Breath of the Wild that includes all DLC on a single game card was launched.

The game card for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will not come with content from The Master Trials or The Champion’s Ballad, instead, you’ll need to purchase the expansion pass separately. This edition will retail at $70, a price hike of $10 compared to its 2017 launch price. However, it’s confirmed that the game card will include enhancements for Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2, such as better resolution, smoother frame rate, and compatibility with a new Zelda Notes feature on the Nintendo Switch app.
