With the five-year anniversary of Zack Snyder’s Justice League approaching, fans are wondering if director Zack Snyder might revisit his vision for the DC Universe. March 2026 will mark five years since the film’s release on HBO Max (March 18, 2021) and ten years since Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters on March 25, 2016. Although the original DCEU has been retired and James Gunn is now leading a new DC Universe with shows like Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker, many devoted fans are still hoping for a return by Zack Snyder.
As a huge fan of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, I got a real kick out of what he shared on March 10th, 2026. He posted a picture of the old, run-down Wayne Manor, which he revealed is going to become the DCEU’s Hall of Justice! He tied it all into the fifth anniversary of the film, posting a little exchange between Wonder Woman and Batman about heroes and their time, with Batman hinting at a return. Snyder finished by saying that even five years later, the idea of an age of heroes still feels incredibly present. You can check out the post he shared – it was a neat little nod to the movie and a hopeful message for the future!
On March 12, 2026, Zack Snyder revealed a picture of Wayne T. Carr as John Stewart, also known as Green Lantern. He explained that Carr was originally intended to appear in the Justice League story, but the scene was ultimately cut. Warner Bros. had different plans for the character, choosing to feature John Stewart in a separate project and replacing his role in Zack Snyder’s Justice League with Martian Manhunter. Aaron Pierre will now play John Stewart in the upcoming series, Lanterns. You can see Snyder’s original post below.
Whenever Zack Snyder shares something from his time working on DC films, fans often think it means he’s planning a comeback and a continuation of his vision, which they call “The Snyderverse.” After years of campaigning for his version of Justice League and finally getting it released on HBO Max, his followers are quick to see hidden meanings in every post. This latest post is probably just Snyder acknowledging that his Justice League cut was finally released. He might host a fan event to celebrate, but it’s unlikely to involve any official plans with DC or Warner Bros.
Zack Snyder is currently finishing up post-production on his film, The Last Photograph, which finished filming in November 2025. He’s also scheduled to direct Brawler, a movie about the world of UFC, working with Turki Al-Sheikh and Dana White. Last year, Netflix had plans for Snyder to direct a film about the LAPD, but it’s unknown whether that project or Brawler will be his next after The Last Photograph. Separately, Warner Bros. is focused on the new DC Universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, with Supergirl coming out in June, Lanterns in August, and Clayface in October 2026.

A lot has happened with Snyder and DC Comics over the last decade, especially since Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and even the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League five years ago. While those films hinted at bigger villains like Darkseid, Justice League felt more like the end of a story that started with Man of Steel rather than a fresh beginning. Interestingly, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad came out the same year and, in retrospect, laid the groundwork for the new DC Universe. Even though Snyder’s time with DC is finished, his vision still matters and has influenced how many people see these characters.
