Many YouTubers are now saying their channels are being shut down or penalized with strikes, happening shortly after the platform’s new AI system mistakenly terminated some accounts.
Tech YouTuber Enderman announced on X (formerly Twitter) on November 3, 2025, that YouTube had shut down multiple accounts, some of which had large followings of hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
The creator explained that their channel was mistakenly flagged as being linked to another channel that had been removed due to copyright violations. Fortunately, the platform quickly realized the error and restored the account within 24 hours.
Just two days after initial reports, more YouTubers are reporting that their accounts have been unexpectedly banned or received strikes on Friday, November 7th.
YouTubers report bans & copyright strikes
YouTuber ThatStarWarsGirl reported on X (formerly Twitter) that a video showing Kathleen Kennedy’s face was incorrectly flagged as containing “sexual content.” She received a strike on her account on November 7th for posting this same clip.
She expressed frustration in a post, stating that she was previously flagged for “sexual content” regarding a clip of Kathleen Kennedy’s face she’d used for a long time, and now her content has been removed again. She called the situation “absolute BS” and requested it be fixed immediately.
She explained that after getting a first warning, she appealed the decision, but it was denied very quickly. YouTube has since gotten back to her, but they’ve moved the discussion to private messages.
I’m really frustrated with YouTube! Last week, a clip of Kathleen Kennedy’s face – which I’ve been using for years – was flagged for “sexual content,” which makes no sense. Now, YouTube has given me a strike! This is a mistake and needs to be fixed immediately.

Shaun Young, another YouTube creator, reported that his channel was taken down without warning. YouTube cited “severe or repeated violations” of its policy against spam, misleading content, and scams as the reason.
Another creator complained that YouTube’s AI system couldn’t explain why their channel was shut down.
He explained that he’d never received any warnings or strikes before. When he asked for clarification on the specific policy he was accused of breaking, he got an unexpected response: they wouldn’t tell him the reason. Apparently, even the AI and the people reviewing the case didn’t know why his account was terminated.
YouTube recently demonstrated a major flaw in its AI system: it can’t explain why it removes creators’ channels. I discovered this firsthand when my verified channel, Old Money Luxury, with over 230,000 subscribers, was suddenly deleted. I hadn’t received any warnings or strikes – just a vague reason citing “spam, scam, and deceptive practices.” This explanation came after a 2,000…

Many other creators on X have reported similar issues, including accounts being mistakenly shut down for sending spam, mirroring the reason Enderman’s account was removed last month.
