YouTuber LabCoatz says they’ve successfully replicated Coca-Cola’s recipe after a year of extensive testing, claiming to have cracked the famously guarded formula.
Coca-Cola has been a beloved drink for over a hundred years, but the precise recipe remains a closely guarded secret.
According to popular belief, the formula for Coca-Cola is known by only two people at a time. When those individuals pass away, they pass the secret recipe on to their chosen replacements. It’s become one of the most famous closely guarded secrets of the modern world, similar to the recipe for KFC’s original fried chicken.
Okay, so this YouTuber, LabCoatz – they do really cool science and engineering stuff – totally blew up online! They claim to have figured out how to perfectly recreate Coca-Cola, and people are going crazy for it. I checked, and the video already has over 2.6 million views – it’s their biggest hit by far, and it only went live three days ago!
YouTuber makes “chemically identical” Coca-Cola at home
Trying to recreate a secret recipe can be really challenging. For LabCoatz, it took a full year of carefully examining every single detail of the drink.
You can find most ingredients listed on the label of any food or drink product. However, it’s often unclear exactly what ‘natural flavors’ actually are, even though they’re listed.

The YouTuber’s investigation revealed that many “natural flavors” are actually made from coca extract, but without the cocaine. When they tried to import some themselves, it was reportedly stopped by border officials, forcing them to begin the process all over again.
LabCoatz asked other experts for help using mass spectrometers – machines that can break down Coca-Cola into its individual chemical components. This gave the YouTuber a starting point for experimentation, and they spent months carefully tweaking the formula to perfect it.
After nearly a year of effort, a significant discovery has been made, and the recipe for a Coca-Cola imitation is now publicly available. While it requires specialized scientific equipment and a variety of ingredients, LabCoatz claims that anyone attempting it at home can produce large quantities of affordable Coca-Cola for years to come.
