YouTuber Lord Miles arrested in Saudi Arabia, rescued kitten dies after being left behind

Lord Miles, a YouTuber from the UK, has been held in Saudi Arabia while attempting a 40-day fast. His team has also reported that a kitten he saved died shortly before his detention.

Miles Routledge, who goes by Lord Miles online, became popular for traveling to risky places and documenting his survival attempts. Recently, he tried fasting alone in the Saudi Arabian desert, and when his live streams suddenly stopped for almost two weeks, people began to worry about him.

Word quickly spread that Routledge had fallen into a coma during the challenge and passed away. This caused confusion on Polymarket, a platform where people were betting on whether he’d finish. As rumors flew, the chances of him completing the fast plummeted.

He later posted on X, claiming he was held by Saudi intelligence based on false accusations made by an American. He alleges this person fabricated multiple reports using a corrupt journalist to profit from a Polymarket prediction market.

Important update regarding Miles: He has been detained by Saudi intelligence based on false accusations. An American individual fabricated several fake reports, using a bribed journalist, in an attempt to profit from bets on Polymarket. We understand that those who bet against Miles (“no” option)…

The post alleged he was being held “to investigate potential terrorist ties.”

At first, everyone thought the story about Lord Miles getting arrested was made up. But then he posted a picture on X – it was a letter from the British Embassy in Riyadh, dated October 5th – and that pretty much confirmed it was real. It was a legit document, so the rumors died down quickly.

I just heard that Lord Miles has been arrested in Saudi Arabia, and the British government has confirmed it. If anyone in the media needs more details or wants to verify this, the British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) can be reached at fcdo.services@fcdo.gov.uk or by phone at +44 (0)1908 515789.

Coffeezilla, a YouTuber, reached out to the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and they responded with this statement:

We’re providing assistance to a British national who has been detained in Saudi Arabia, and we’re communicating with the Saudi authorities about the situation.

I initially doubted reports that Lord Miles was being held in Saudi Arabia. However, I’ve now confirmed it with a spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. They told me, “We are supporting a British man detained in Saudi Arabia and are in touch with the local authorities.”

Lord Miles’ rescued kitten dies

A kitten that Routledge saved during his travels sadly died while someone else was looking after it, after he was arrested. The kitten had appeared in several videos and had become a beloved part of the online community that followed his journey.

Although Lord Miles was arrested and taken to jail in handcuffs and leg chains, we don’t hold him responsible for the welfare of the kitten he rescued. Instead, we blame those who failed to care for the cat after Miles’ arrest. He originally found the starving kitten as a stray upon arriving in Saudi Arabia.

As a follower of Polymarket, I was really watching the numbers, and it was amazing to see over $14.3 million traded on that one market! Sadly, trading has now stopped, and it’s official: the final result was ‘No’ – he didn’t complete the fast, and that was determined on September 29th.

As of today, Saudi officials haven’t made any public comments about his arrest.
