Mack Hopkins, a YouTuber, recently gained attention for a viral prank where he talked a stranger into attempting to ‘rob’ a fake bank.
YouTubers have become skilled at making people believe their most outlandish pranks and ideas are genuine. Max Fosh, in particular, has become known for this, successfully convincing people of things like arriving at the wrong airport or even that he’s passed away.
YouTuber Mack Hopkins went to an extreme length in a video posted on April 5th: he persuaded a man named Adam, who was a stranger to him, to participate in a bank robbery with him.
Man, I was totally shocked! Turns out, everything – the whole fake robbery, even the police chase and my arrest – was Hopkins’ plan all along. He’d orchestrated the entire thing! I was completely blindsided; my old school buddy really thought I was losing it.

Initially, Adam met people pretending to be FBI agents. They claimed to need his help locating Mack, someone Adam knew from school. This led to Adam becoming Mack’s assistant, and they began committing crimes together, including a staged robbery using fake guns.
Adam participated in a six-week-long simulation created by Mack’s, and didn’t discover it was fake until it was over. The video documenting the experience has gained over 5 million views, and Adam described it as “crazy.”
To make the prank completely believable, the YouTuber closed down an entire town, but it wasn’t a very smart financial move for them.
Adam knew cameras were recording, but he didn’t realize just how much filming was happening.
Even though the YouTuber admitted the whole thing was staged, he understood why his friend kept doubting everything, particularly after receiving a solid gold coin as a gift.
Many viewers felt Adam didn’t receive enough compensation for his experience. One person commented he’d likely have trouble trusting people afterward, while another argued he deserved far more than the $5,000 he received, given what he went through.
