YouTube TV announces another big price increase while removing over 20 channels

YouTube TV users have been informed about an upcoming price increase, but what’s causing discontent among fans is the fact that approximately 20 channels will also be taken off the platform.

Over the past several years, more and more people are turning away from traditional cable subscriptions (cord-cutting) and instead are seeking out platforms such as YouTube to continue enjoying popular television series and sports events.

YouTube TV has made it possible for users to combine some of their preferred channels and sports subscriptions into a single plan, earning them much acclaim. But as we move towards 2025, the price increase that was previously announced will take effect.

Earlier, the starting price for YouTube TV was set at $72.99 per month, however, it has been increased by $10 to now cost $82.99 monthly. Unfortunately, over 20 channels have also been taken off the service as well.

YouTube TV loses 20+ channels in Paramount+ dispute

Because of disagreements regarding contract extensions, YouTube TV subscribers may soon find themselves without access to channels such as MTV, CBS, Comedy Central, BET, and Nickelodeon due to issues with Paramount+.

With a price increase of $10, YouTube TV’s decision has faced significant criticism from its users. For instance, one user stated, “YouTube TV debuted in 2017 at $35. Inflation-adjusted, it would cost around $45 today. If you are a subscriber, you’re being overcharged.

1. I’ve just called it off because it’s far too pricey for my budget, to put it mildly.

2. Another gamer lamented, “Dropped YouTubeTV right before the NCAA Tournament, what a shame @YouTubeTV, this is truly unfortunate.”

Dropping CBS a month prior to the NCAA Tournament is completely unjustifiable @YouTubeTV.

Negotiations are currently underway for YouTube TV to reinstate the content from Paramount+.

Our talks with Paramount are ongoing, and we’ll make sure to let you know about any advancements. In case a deal isn’t struck and their content remains inaccessible for a prolonged duration, we plan to give our subscribers a $8 credit.

They mentioned that you have the option to continue enjoying Paramount’s series and films by subscribing to their streaming platform, Paramount+, which begins at just $7.99 per month.
