YouTube publicly shared its revenue for the first time, and the numbers show it earned over $60 billion in 2025 – surpassing Netflix. This total includes money from both advertisements and subscriptions, according to its parent company, Alphabet.
For the first time, Alphabet’s earnings report includes a complete breakdown of YouTube’s revenue, going beyond just advertising figures.
YouTube’s revenue surpassed Netflix’s $45.18 billion in 2025. Within the entertainment industry, only Disney, with $95.7 billion in revenue, earned more last year.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, announced that the company has surpassed 325 million paid subscriptions for its services like YouTube Premium, YouTube TV, and Google One. This demonstrates that YouTube is now earning revenue from sources beyond just advertising.
Advertising continues to be a significant source of income for YouTube. In the last three months of 2025, the platform earned $11.38 billion from ads worldwide, which was 8.7% higher than the same period last year. However, this result was slightly lower than what analysts had predicted. According to Sundar Pichai, a decrease in spending on political ads compared to late 2024 affected overall advertising revenue.
Okay, so the CEO was talking about how well things are going on YouTube, and it’s pretty crazy. Apparently, people watched over 700 million hours of podcasts on YouTube through their TVs just in October 2025! And get this – the NFL’s Sunday Ticket, which you can now get through YouTube, had more subscribers than ever before. They didn’t say how many, but it’s a good sign that a lot of people are enjoying it.
Okay, so Alphabet just dropped their Q4 numbers, and they were seriously good – revenue hit $113.8 billion and they brought in $34.5 billion in profit, both beating what analysts predicted. But the really interesting part for me? Sundar Pichai said they’re planning to invest a massive $175 to $185 billion in AI by 2026. That’s a lot of cash, and it means we’re gonna see some seriously cool stuff coming down the line, hopefully impacting games in a big way!
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan recently shared that over a million channels were using YouTube’s AI tools every day in December 2025. He also announced that YouTube Shorts is averaging 200 billion views daily, and that new features and more affordable YouTube TV plans are coming out this year.
