YouTube is finally letting users filter out Shorts when searching for videos

Okay, so YouTube’s finally letting us tweak search results a bit more! I’m really happy they’re adding more filters. The best part? I can now completely hide Shorts if I want to! No more endless scrolling past those little videos when I’m looking for something longer. It’s a small thing, but it’ll make finding the content I actually want to watch so much easier.

YouTube has updated its search results based on user feedback. Previously, searches often mixed short clips with full videos, making it difficult to find exactly what people were looking for. The new update aims to make searching easier and help viewers quickly find the specific videos they want.

YouTube has updated its search tools with new filters, along with some changes to how you sort results and the removal of filters that weren’t used much.

YouTube Shorts get their own dedicated filter

A major update lets you easily filter search results to show only Shorts or traditional long-form videos. Previously, both types of videos would appear together, but now you can specifically choose which one you want to see.

YouTube is updating its filtering options. The “Sort By” menu is being renamed “Prioritize” to more clearly show how videos are ordered, and the “View count” option will now be labeled “Popularity.”

YouTube’s Popularity filter finds videos that are both relevant to your search and have been watched by a lot of people. It looks at factors like view count and how long people watch the videos to show you what’s most popular.

YouTube is streamlining its filter menu by getting rid of features people weren’t using much. Specifically, the filters to see videos uploaded in the last hour and the option to sort by rating are being removed.

You can still browse recently added content using the Upload Date filters, and now you can find what’s most popular with the new Popularity filter.

So, they’re tweaking the search function to make things easier to find, which is awesome. It’s especially helpful because Shorts are becoming a huge part of the platform now, and things were getting a little messy. Basically, they’re trying to cut down on confusion and help me find what I’m looking for faster!
