YouTube recently removed all of its popular ‘Rewind’ videos from public view shortly after Ryan Higa, known as NigaHiga, announced he stopped contributing because he felt he had been misled.
It’s become popular for social media apps to share year-end summaries. Everyone anticipates Spotify Wrapped each year, and now YouTube is offering a similar personalized recap for its users.
Okay, so YouTube definitely nailed it for years with those Rewind videos they used to do. Seriously, from 2011 to 2019, they were awesome! They’d get all the biggest YouTubers together to basically celebrate everything that was cool on the platform – the memes, the huge moments, you name it. They were a really fun way to look back on the year.
The last ‘Rewind’ video was released in 2019, and it received a lot of negative feedback from fans. It quickly became one of the most disliked videos on YouTube, gaining over 3 million dislikes within just 24 hours.
YouTube Rewind uploads unlisted in 2025
Even though the Rewind project was canceled, the videos stayed online for anyone to view. However, on December 9, 2025, all of the Rewind compilation videos were suddenly made unavailable.
People on the r/YouTube subreddit noticed the videos were gone, and also disappeared from their saved ‘Watch Later’ lists.
Some people have gathered these videos into a playlist, so you can still watch them. However, you’ll need the direct links to access them.

YouTube users are speculating about why the videos were removed, with many wondering about the timing of the decision.
This follows Ryan Higa’s public criticism of the platform, where he accused them of being dishonest about his involvement in past Rewind videos.
The popular YouTuber said on his Twitch stream that he was completely lied to and that they tried to reassure him it would be simple once he arrived, but he immediately disagreed and decided against it.
He explained that if someone tries to make you agree to something after you’ve already said no, it’s really underhanded, and he wouldn’t forget it. He was particularly upset because he’d already been doing the work for free, and that’s why he stopped liking YouTube Rewind.
