Valkyrae, a popular streaming personality, recently disclosed an unexpected factor that prevents her from joining the ranks of VTubers, despite the growing trend of virtual avatars in live broadcasting.
Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter, known for her streaming work, has amassed more than five million fans on Twitch and YouTube following a ten-year journey creating content.
Just as numerous broadcasters, Valkyrae exhibits her real self during gaming sessions and interactions with fans; however, an increasing number of online celebrities prefer concealing their identities behind customized digital personas instead.
Indeed, a multitude of well-liked VTubers can be found online, including IronMouse, Gawr Gura, and Dokibird, among others. Although some prominent streamers have momentarily jumped on the bandwagon, Valkyrae mentions that she is barred from experimenting with it personally.
Valkyrae explains wholesome reason why she can’t be a VTuber
Back on February 13, 2025, I found myself pondering over the idea of introducing a VTuber character into my streaming world. However, my mom has put the kibosh on this plan, as she’s not too keen on the idea.
Rae noted that her mom disapproves of having a [VTuber] model during streams as she prefers seeing Rae’s face instead.

The heartwarming post ignited a wave of emotional responses from viewers and fellow broadcasters, one of them saying, “Oh, that’s really touching!” or simply “How adorable!

Valkyrae frequently spends quality time with her mom; they recently celebrated her mom’s birthday together in the Philippines, an event she documented in a YouTube video blog.
Back in 2023, it was contemplated by her that they might adopt a child together with her mother. However, there haven’t been many updates regarding this plan in the following months.
As a dedicated admirer, I couldn’t help but cheer for Valkyrae as she commemorated her 10-year streaming milestone! After wrapping up her five-year commitment with YouTube in late 2024, she made her triumphant return to Twitch. What a fantastic comeback!
