Well, bless my soul, Anthropic went and left 512,000 lines of Claude Code lying around like a pack of mischievous puppies on March 31, hiding in a routine npm update no less.
That little mishap laid bare the entire guts of their fancy-pants AI coding contraption, the very thing raking in a tidy $2.5 billion a year-money enough to make a catfish blush.
Second Oops in Five Days Makes Folks Wonder About the IPO
A sharp-eyed fellow, Chaofan Shou, happened upon the exposed source map file in Claude Code version 2.1.88 and, being the helpful sort, tossed a download link onto X (or Twitter, as city folk call it).

That code scampered across GitHub faster than a greased pig at a county fair, gathering tens of thousands of forks before Anthropic could even whisper “DMCA.”
And wouldn’t you know it, just five days prior, some other slip-up exposed 3,000 internal files, including the still-secret “Mythos” model. Two blunders in one week! Makes you wonder if $350 billion buys a bit of common sense-or at least some duct tape.
The Code Ain’t Going Nowhere
Korean-Canadian whiz Sigrid Jin, known for munching 25 billion Claude Code tokens last year, did a sunrise Python rewrite in a clean room, probably smelling faintly of burnt coffee and genius.
His repository, claw-code, hit 50,000 GitHub stars faster than a rooster crows at dawn.
Among the leaked treasures was “Undercover Mode,” meant to keep Claude from spilling Anthropic’s secrets-ironically now all out in the open. Also revealed were 44 feature flags, a mysterious background daemon called KAIROS, and internal model nicknames like “Capybara” for Claude 4.6.
Anthropic owned up, blaming mere human folly for the packaging snafu. Their enterprise clients, who bankroll 80% of Claude Code’s earnings, now get to play with a tool whose clever security tricks and permission hacks are just hanging out for anyone to gawk at.
