Battlefield 6 lets you search for games with specific maps and modes, but it doesn’t always function perfectly. Surprisingly, this isn’t a bug – the developers intentionally designed it this way.
The issue with custom search
A player reported on X that the custom search feature sometimes takes them to the wrong map. Battlefield Community Manager Kevin Johnson responded, explaining how the search works and why this issue occurs.
Ultimately, the system focuses on what the user wants. If it can’t find a perfect result, it will look for something close enough. This was intentionally designed to minimize wait times and get players into the game quickly.
Custom Search first focuses on your preferred choices, then checks available servers, match quality, and your location to deliver the best results.
If it can’t find an immediate match, the system will broaden its search to quickly find another suitable option. This helps keep the game moving and avoids unnecessary delays.
There’s a chance the game’s feature could be improved later on. Alexia Christofi, the producer of *Battlefield 6*, recently asked players if they would use an option to disable the game’s current behavior and wait for a desired outcome. She explained that the team had previously discussed adding this as a toggleable setting and would like to offer players that choice if possible.
Guns with blanks
Players have discovered a bug affecting gameplay: sometimes, gunshots don’t actually cause any damage. You can see the hit marker and blood effects, but enemies aren’t harmed – it’s like the gun is firing blanks. A demonstration of the issue is shown below.
Florian Le Bihan, the lead designer for *Battlefield 6*, responded to players on X about a problem some are experiencing. He asked those affected to share specifics, such as the weapon attachments they were using. The development team is investigating, as they’re still trying to pinpoint the exact cause of the bug.
We’re looking into a problem where the game shows visual damage – like blood – but doesn’t register the hit on screen with indicators or damage numbers. This happens sometimes when you clearly hit your target, but the game doesn’t acknowledge it.
