You Probably Won’t Guess What Just Outsold Every PS5 And Xbox Console Model In The US

The Nex Playground is a surprisingly popular video game console in the US, despite many people being unaware of it. Recently, Mat Piscatella, a director at Circana, shared that this cube-shaped console, which focuses on motion controls, actually outsold every version of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox during a recent holiday week.

Piscatella shared some interesting video game hardware sales data on BlueSky for the week of November 22nd. The best-selling item was a Switch 2 bundle that included Mario Kart World, followed by the Nex Playground. The digital version of the PS5 Slim with 1TB of storage came in third. It’s important to remember that there are many different versions of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S available – different bundles and storage sizes – and each one is counted as a separate item. So, the data from Circana doesn’t show the total number of Switch 2, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S consoles sold, just individual configurations.

As a big fan, I wasn’t surprised to see the Nex Playground console making waves again! It’s not the first time it’s briefly outperformed the PS5 in the US. Back in July, during Prime Day, it actually sold more units than any version of the PS5 on Amazon for a whole month – that’s pretty impressive!

Nex Playground is a gaming console that lets you play games using your body’s movements – it’s similar to the old Xbox Kinect, using a camera to track how you move. It comes with five games already installed, and you can get access to even more games with a Play Pass subscription. The subscription costs $49 for three months, or $89 for a full year.

Right now, you can find the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle on sale for $50 less at some stores. However, this price wasn’t available during the period that Circana tracked. PlayStation 5 discounts started around November 20th, so they were briefly included in last month’s sales data.
