As an ardent admirer, I’m sharing the heartfelt explanation from Kai Cenat about why he chose to stick with Twitch instead of seizing the $60M offer from another platform.
Kai Cenat revealed his personal reasons for declining a massive $60M deal and staying on Twitch.
Streaming sensation Kai Cenat is recognized as one of the greatest streamers ever, having set a global record for the highest number of subscribers. This impressive achievement was earned during his iconic Mafiathon event.
Centan often generates significant milestones on the platform through high-profile collaborations, including those with celebrities like Kevin Hart, and epic gaming events, such as his Elden Ring live stream.
2024 saw me, a fervent fan, learn about Kick’s ambitious plan to recruit not just Kai, but his YouTube sensation companion, IShowSpeed as well. However, this dynamic duo surprisingly declined the offer despite the platform bringing onboard personalities such as xQc and Amouranth among others into their roster.
As stated by Kai, the proposal was significantly valuable, estimated to be around $60 million (though there’s been some debate over the precise figure), and while he’s been tight-lipped about the specific reason for his rejection previously, he provided more insight into it during an interview with Billboard.

In a sports-related comparison, Kai Cenat likened himself to basketball superstar Stephen Curry, stating that just as it would be illogical for Curry to switch to another sport, it feels unnatural for him to venture into fields outside of his current focus.
For instance, imagine you approach Steph Curry and tell him, ‘Hey, Steph, we’d like you to switch sports and become an NFL running back instead. You’re incredibly skilled at basketball, but we’re suggesting you abandon everything and immediately join the NFL football as a running back,'” Cenat elaborated.
He stated, “It doesn’t add up! I’ve established a solid community on Twitch. Kick is not where I belong,” he continued. “Twitch is my home, plain and simple. If something isn’t broken, don’t try to repair it. That’s my philosophy.
On the live streaming platform Twitch, user Kai boasts an impressive following of more than 16 million people, as reported by statistics site Socialblade.
He held the position as the leading Just Chatting streamer throughout the entire year of 2024, and he garnered numerous accolades at the QTCinderella’s Streamer Award ceremonies.
Meanwhile, Kick doesn’t seem too troubled about not securing Cenat’s signature yet, but one of its founders, Bijan Tehrani, has a strategic plan in place to bring him onto the platform instead.
Previously, Tehrani disclosed that while the platform has stopped making major acquisitions, his ultimate ambition involves purchasing Twitch from Amazon and securing Kai Cenat’s live streams as part of the deal.
