As a devoted fan of the Dutton clan saga, I eagerly await the arrival of 1923 Season 2, set against the backdrop of the Great Depression. The intrigue surrounding the Duttons and their unyielding struggle with the changing world is palpable, offering a tantalizing opportunity to seek resolution from the enigmatic Yellowstone finale.
Although Yellowstone has concluded, rest assured that Season 2 of 1923 is fast approaching, and one cast member has shared the main disagreement among the current Dutton acting ensemble.
1923, set on the brink of the Great Depression, portrays the Duttons adapting to the changing times. As Season 2 is approaching in a matter of months, it’s an ideal moment to find some resolution from the cliffhanger in Yellowstone.
For the modern-day Duttons, the 20’s bring significant challenges as their ranch is under threat and it falls upon the upcoming generation to uphold a crucial legacy. However, a major enigma surrounding the Dutton family tree has been partially unraveled, thanks to the final episode of Yellowstone.
After years of fan debate over who John Dutton’s biological grandparent’s were (Jack and Elizabeth or Spencer and Alexandra), the answer came when Kayce sold the ranch to Thomas Rainwater.
1923 cast argued over who was John Dutton’s grandparents
By accomplishing this task, Kayce completed the Dutton prediction which spoke of the land being reclaimed by the people after a span of seven generations. Unlike Spencer and Alexandra, Jack and Elizabeth’s actions align with this timeframe. Consequently, it makes sense that Randolph is John’s grandmother, given the logical progression of the family lineage over these seven generations.
Randolph mentioned during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the cast from the 1923 production had disagreements over this particular topic, which they discussed amongst themselves.
She exclaimed, “This is news to me!” she shared, adding, “During season one, we’d jokingly claim each other as grandparents, but none of us were truly sure. It’s fascinating! I’ve delved deep into many family histories, and I too am intrigued.
In the first season of 1923, Randolph’s character, Elizabeth “Liz” Dutton, experienced some heart-wrenching setbacks. As time progresses, her true home seems to be with the Duttons, and the actress has hinted at tense times ahead for season 2.
Man, this Season 2 is quite a rollercoaster ride! Playing Elizabeth has been an absolute blast because we delve deeper into her character this time around. Now she’s part of the Dutton family, and boy, does she face some tough times. Yet, it seems everyone is going through their share of hardships. After all, it’s 1923, and if you aren’t feeling the strain, then perhaps you aren’t playing the right character! Just like we saw in Season 1, they all had their fair share of challenges back then too.
The delay was well worth it. I was eagerly anticipating season two of Taylor’s show, not knowing where it would go. When we received the scripts and began filming, my reaction was simply ‘Wow.’ The wait was indeed worth the two years. Your expectations were met and surpassed.
1923 Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, February 23.
