Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties reveals new story, gameplay, and combat details

Sega and RGG Studio recently revealed more about Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, including new gameplay footage, story elements, and combat features, along with a fresh set of screenshots.

The official website has been updated with new character details and screenshots from both the Yakuza Kiwami 3 remake and the new ‘Dark Ties’ story. Sega also recently released a behind-the-scenes video with Takaya Kuroda, the voice actor for Kiryu. You can watch the video here:

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will be available on February 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 

  • The Dragon of Dojima style has been completely revamped! Players will have access to more attacks than ever before, including exciting new Heat Abilities alongside beloved moves from Yakuza 3. By building up a Dragon Boost, you can unleash devastating finishing moves like powerful piledrivers and incredible throws.

  • Ryukyu Style Combat draws inspiration from Okinawan martial arts. It starts with a defensive stance using a shield and short spear, and lets you unleash a flurry of attacks with weapons like sais, tonfas, nunchaku, and more, just by pressing or holding buttons. This style also features powerful, advanced moves using Okinawan weaponry that can be chained after regular combos for devastating effect.

  • Kiryu can become even stronger by filling his gauge and using Dragon Boost. If you activate Dragon Boost while fighting in Ryukyu Style, Kiryu’s weapons become incredibly powerful, and you can unleash a devastating Dragon Finisher!

  • Kiryu now has more ways to improve his skills than ever before. By completing missions and training, you can customize his abilities to match your playstyle. You can even boost his motivation by customizing his phone, helping him reach his full potential.

Dark Ties

  • Okay, so this all started back in 2007. I played as Yoshitaka Mine, a guy who’d built a company, but got seriously burned by a partner. I was wandering around Kamurocho, pretty much down and out, when I stumbled into a brutal fight between yakuza groups. Seeing one of Daigo Dojima’s guys make the ultimate sacrifice really got me thinking about what truly connects people, beyond just money. I decided I needed to learn more about Daigo, so I approached Tsuyoshi Kanda from the Nishikiyama Family. He took me in, made me his sworn brother and right-hand man, and together we started making a ton of money for the family. But of course, success doesn’t go unnoticed. The Tojo Clan started paying attention, and things got complicated fast. As Kanda and I dealt with the fallout, I started to really feel a connection with him. Then, out of nowhere, I got an invite from Daigo Dojima himself!

  • Ruthless Combat is a stylish fighting system inspired by shoot-boxing. Players can quickly exploit weaknesses in their opponent’s guard to unleash powerful combos and use fast aerial dashes to keep enemies off balance. It features many of the same techniques used by the character Mine in Yakuza 3.

  • As a huge fan, I’m really excited about Mine’s Dark Awakening Mode! Basically, he charges up something called the Shackled Heart by fighting, and then he can unleash Dark Awakening. This is where things get wild – he drops his cool exterior and shows his true, incredibly fierce side! His attacks and animations completely change, becoming way more aggressive. You can really go all-out, dragging enemies around and just relentlessly pounding them. And the Heat Actions? Seriously cool and brutal – think face-smashing barrages and devastating gut punches. It’s a total transformation!

  • Mine’s upgrades enhance his fighting skills, making his moves more powerful and adding new attacks he can perform in the air. You can also improve his Dark Awakening ability with various upgrades.
