As a big Yakuza fan, I’ve always had to manage money in the games, and it’s changed a lot over the years. But honestly, it feels really important in Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It’s not quite as crucial as it was in Yakuza 0, where every yen counted, but you definitely need to hustle to get by!
You’ll primarily use this to buy new skills for both Kiryu and Mine as you progress through their stories. If you’re looking for a smoother experience, especially on the hardest difficulty, it’s a good idea to stock up on it early in the game.
You’ll also need this if you plan to buy ingredients for the orphanage kitchen or get supplies in the Bad Boy Dragon mini-game. Kiryu can use it for many things, not just treating himself.
This guide will show you the fastest ways to earn money for both Ichiban and Kazuma in Yakuza Kiwami 3.
How to Quickly Earn Money in Yakuza Kiwami 3
Selling Plates From Orphanage Shop

For Kiryu, one way to get started is a bit unusual: you can actually buy the two ‘Forbidden’ plates – specifically, the ‘Forbidden Plate Kiwami’ and another ‘Forbidden Plate’ – by trading at the shop within the Morning Glory Orphanage’s Bulletin Board.
If you’ve played this mode a lot and have extra money to spare – enough that you’re not worried about buying food or improving the orphanage – you can purchase these plates and then exchange them at the Pawn Shop for cash that Kiryu can use.
Okay, so this isn’t the fastest way to make money, but it’s a solid option if you need around 100,000 yen before tackling the final boss or even getting into the Amon fights. It’s just a good way to build up some cash before the endgame.
Winning Coliseum Battles
The Coliseum returns with challenges just as tough as the original game. Like in Yakuza 3, it’s a great way to earn extra money, but you won’t be able to participate until you’re well into Yakuza Kiwami 3.
As a huge Yakuza fan, walking into this Coliseum felt incredible! It’s exactly where Kiryu and Majima had that epic showdown in Yakuza Kiwami 2. And if you haven’t played the third game, get ready – you’ll quickly figure out who Kiryu faces here, bringing all that Coliseum history full circle!
The Coliseum is pretty straightforward: you fight in three rounds, and the quicker you win, the better your score and the more money you earn. While the bronze fights are easy, you’ll make the most money by completing silver or gold rank fights – they offer the best rewards for your time.
Defeat the Reapers
If you enjoyed the Hitman-style missions in the original Yakuza 3, you’ll be pleased to know they’ve returned! This time, they’re called Reapers, and Kashiwagi tasks you with completing them to find the person pulling the strings.
The most significant benefit of defeating these new Reaper targets, similar to the old ones, is the large amount of money they reward you with. While their difficulty plays a role, they’re definitely the best way to earn money early in the game if you can beat them.
Depending on how challenging they are, these quests offer rewards ranging from tens of thousands to over a hundred thousand yen, which is great for quickly earning money to improve your skills or buy essential items in Yakuza 3 Remastered.
How to Quickly Earn Money in Dark Ties
Moving on from his ‘Mine and Dark Ties’ side story, players can also explore the Coliseum, similar to Kiryu, but with a unique arena called Hell’s Arena that unlocks early in the game. There’s a wide range of battles to complete here, and Mine’s quick, powerful fighting style should make them relatively easy to win.
You’ll spend most of your time in Hell’s Survival mode, which unlocks at the same time as the arena. Here, you can earn a huge amount of yen as Mine while exploring a full dungeon packed with enemies and treasure chests on each floor.
As I noted in my game review, Hell’s Survival plays a lot like a Roguelite. You can make your character, Mine, more powerful by finding helpful items, new weapons, and allies. If a level becomes too difficult, you can leave and keep the resources you’ve earned, which you can then use to upgrade Mine before continuing.
