On December 8th, Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A free update will also be released for the Steam version. According to Sega’s Japanese FAQ, the new PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will run at a smooth 60 frames per second, highlighting a difference between those versions and the one for the Switch 2.
This is the first time we’ve seen information about how smoothly Yakuza Kiwami 2 will run on the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Currently, details are limited to frame rate only – no information on resolution has been shared. The game will run at 30 frames per second on the Nintendo Switch 2, but at a smoother 60 frames per second on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

We’ll share more details about how the game works on new consoles if Sega releases them. Earlier today, Sega announced that owners of the digital versions of Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions for free. This doesn’t apply to those who access the game through a subscription service.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is out now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can find my review of the Switch version here.
