Popular streamer xQc is facing varied reactions after speaking up in defense of TwitchCon. He explained that security was greatly increased at the event following an assault on fellow streamer Emiru by a fan.
During a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon on October 17th, cosplayer and online personality Emiru was approached by an attendee who bypassed the line, grabbed her shoulders, and tried to kiss her.
A security guard working for the streamer pushed the man, and several people at the event said he then left without anyone stopping him.
Emiru says Twitch only took action against a harasser after her manager stepped in. They first gave him a 30-day ban from the website, and later permanently banned him from both the platform and any Twitch events.
Emiru was upset with how Twitch handled the recent events. The situation drew criticism after reports surfaced of several incidents, including VTuber IronMouse saying security guards damaged gifts sent by her fans.
Lots of popular Twitch streamers, like Emiru, have announced they won’t be going to TwitchCon again, with some even wondering if the 2025 event might be the last one. However, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel doesn’t agree with that outlook.
xQc faces heat for praising TwitchCon security after Emiru assault
He spoke about the attack on October 21st, calling it “one of the worst things we’ve seen.” He also praised TwitchCon for increasing security measures afterward.
I was at the event, and honestly, it felt much safer and was better organized this time. There were police officers stationed right in front of where people were lined up, and officers were also patrolling between the lines. This was all after the incident at the Emiru event, and it seems like they really took steps to improve security based on what happened there.
Generally, things outside the main event haven’t been great, but this year was a clear improvement. In the past, there were issues with people outside harassing and inappropriately touching attendees, which was really strange and unpleasant. Thankfully, we didn’t see any of that behavior this year.
We improved the partner shuttles this year, and overall the event went much better. However, one specific part didn’t go as planned, which was disappointing.
People immediately accused him of downplaying the situation, but he maintained he was simply sharing his perspective. He also strongly criticized Twitch’s handling of the attack on Emiru, calling it poor and strange, and felt CEO Dan Clancy was avoiding addressing it, even in a private conversation.
I talked to a bunch of other creators at TwitchCon, and most of us actually had a great time! But there were definitely some issues. A few of us got approached by IRL streamers without even knowing, which was super awkward, and getting around the venue was tough for some people with accessibility needs. Overall though, it was still a positive experience despite those hiccups.
Minecraft streamer GoodTimesWithScar won a Twitch Rivals event, but the stage wasn’t accessible for his wheelchair because there were no ramps, preventing him from participating in the on-stage celebration.
Hi Twitch! This is Scar, a Minecraft streamer with a disability. He recently won a Twitch Rivals event (MCC), but the stage wasn’t accessible, preventing him from participating in the celebration. The Twitch community hopes you’ll consider making future event venues accessible to everyone.

Twitch has addressed the attack on Emiru, but they haven’t commented on how the event went overall. This silence is concerning many people in the community, who fear the event might not happen again if significant improvements aren’t made.
