As an avid gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that this latest Xbox update has me thoroughly impressed! The ability to only establish friendships when they are reciprocated is a breath of fresh air, eliminating those pesky one-sided connections we’ve all encountered at some point.

The most recent update for Xbox brings back the ability to receive friend requests, enhances search functionality, and offers additional customization choices for profile images and home screen designs.

From now on, forging a friendship here means the other person needs to accept your friend request, reciprocity applies. However, following someone is a one-way interaction where you get updates about their shared content. All your existing connections will adjust automatically so there’s no need for any changes in your friends and followers list.

On the other hand, if you’d like to control your circle of friends and followers, simply press the Xbox button on your controller and navigate to the ‘People’ section. Here, you can view your friend list, accept or decline requests, and search for new connections. In addition, the settings related to privacy and relationship notifications have been updated.

The updated search feature, as stated by Microsoft, offers improved precision and understands misspellings, shorthands, synonyms, and even emoticons. These enhancements are now available on both the console and Windows Xbox application.

Now on the console, there’s increased flexibility for personalizing your profile. You’re able to design gamerpics, either using artwork from your achievements or your own screenshots. Furthermore, you can adjust and trim images as you set your home backdrop.

Regarding the Windows version of the Xbox app, the home screen design has been updated, allowing for quick resumption of your previous gameplay using the “resume playing” feature, even when in compact mode. Additionally, the Xbox Accessories application has received a complimentary update, enabling users to adjust thumbstick and trigger sensitivity, map mouse inputs, and more on their Elite or Elite 2 Controllers.

In related Xbox updates, the latest promotional strategy highlights their services on smartphones and smart TVs. It’s been rumored that Microsoft is working on a portable device, but we might not see it launch for several more years.
