The Xbox is on its way to becoming even more mobile, and it’s not referring to the ROG Ally handheld that’s forthcoming. Instead, expect the Xbox experience in cars traveling near you.
Through a collaboration between LG and Xbox, it’s been announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming (still in its beta phase) is set to become available on specific LG vehicles. This means passengers in these automobiles will soon have the opportunity to play their preferred Xbox games while traveling.
Using Xbox Cloud Gaming allows you to experience games such as Gears of War Reloaded, Black Ops 7, The Outer Worlds 2, and Forza Horizon 5 right from your screen, making it feel like playing Forza Horizon 5 in a real car is a perfect fit!
Microsoft partners with LG to bring Xbox games to cars
In an exhilarating trailer dubbed ‘Xbox for the Road: Vroom Ahead’, I got a sneak peek at the exciting new feature coming soon to internet-connected vehicles like the Kia EV3, currently available on the market. This innovation will also make its debut on the upcoming models EV5, EV6, and the brand-new Kia Sportage. And if that’s not enough, more compatible models are expected to join the lineup in the near future!
In this setup, the Xbox app will be seamlessly integrated with LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP). This integration enables passengers in internet-connected vehicles to stream and play games directly from their Xbox app, including accessing Game Pass content. Furthermore, while your vehicle is charging, you can also enjoy a gaming experience during your journey.
“Our work with LG is the latest example of Xbox expanding to new places, building on partnerships that already bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to mobile devices, PCs, and TVs,” explained vice presidernt of Xbox maketing Christopher Lee who goes on to say, “By adding vehicles to the mix, we’re giving players more choice than ever in how they enjoy their games.”
It appears that the Xbox has indeed made its transition to being portable, and this development comes ahead of our anticipated collaboration with ROG Ally. This means we can expect gaming experiences not only in handheld devices but also potentially while seated in vehicles, attached to the back of a headrest.
