Microsoft recently shared a new ad for The Outer Worlds 2. The ad shows comedian and actor Ben Schwartz unexpectedly joining a focus group for the game, where he offers some unusual ideas.
According to the video’s description, a good sequel needs to be thoroughly tested – shown to a lot of people who haven’t seen it before – before it can truly be considered great.
So, I just watched this hilarious video where a guy playing the ‘Head of Sequels’ for The Outer Worlds 2 is brainstorming ways to get people hyped for the game. Seriously, his ideas are wild! He actually suggested *bribing* people to like it, and even firing t-shirts out of a cannon at them! Apparently, it’s all about capturing that “big sequel energy.” Plus, Marc Evan Jackson from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Good Place is in it too – definitely worth checking out!
Schwartz previously appeared as his “Head of Sequels” persona in a promotional ad for The Outer Worlds 2 that was shown at Summer Game Fest earlier this year.
The Outer Worlds 2 will be available on October 29th for $70. Players who purchase the Premium edition for $100 will be able to start playing five days early, on October 24th.
Microsoft initially planned to price The Outer Worlds 2 at $80, making it the first of their games to reach that price point. However, they’ve since changed plans and confirmed the standard edition will now cost $70. Players who preordered the game at the higher price can receive a refund.
Microsoft originally justified raising game prices to $80 by citing market factors and increasing development costs. However, when they decided to lower the price back to $70, they explained they wanted to ensure titles like The Outer Worlds 2—and other holiday releases—remained competitively priced.
There was a lot of speculation that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 would cost $80, but that isn’t happening. Although buying games directly from Microsoft remains the same price, the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions is increasing. This means playing new Microsoft games like The Outer Worlds 2 or Black Ops 7 through Game Pass will be more expensive.
