Famke Janssen, known for her role in the original X-Men movies, will reportedly appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, despite previously stating she wouldn’t be involved. The film, set to release later this year, will include several characters from the X-Men franchise, such as Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart, and Magneto, played by Ian McKellen.
Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey now said to be in Avengers: Doomsday
A new rumor suggests Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the original X-Men movies, will make an appearance in the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. The Beyond Reporter, who previously made this claim last month, is the source of the information.
The user also mentioned that Halle Berry might reprise her role as Storm from the original X-Men movies, following a fan question about it.
As of now, Marvel Studios hasn’t officially stated whether Janssen and Berry will be in the Doomsday project.
Famously, Janssen had previously said she wouldn’t reprise her role as Jean Grey. In an October 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 61-year-old actress stated that Marvel had never approached her about returning to play the character, known for her psychic abilities.
You know, it’s really cool to hear people still connect with the character I played. I mean, it was a while ago, but it’s flattering that she’s left an impression. I’m guessing whenever a new movie in that series comes out – like, are they doing a ‘Doomsday’ one now? – people will start talking about her again, which is pretty neat.
In a November 2025 conversation with Kristian Harloff, Famke Janssen said she wasn’t interested in returning as Jean Grey for a potential Avengers: Doomsday movie. She explained that she’s now focused on projects where she can be creatively involved, like her Netflix series Amsterdam Empire, which she also executive produces. She felt Doomsday wouldn’t offer that kind of opportunity, though she’s still open to joining projects as part of a strong cast if it seems like a good fit.
In an April 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Halle Berry didn’t address rumors about whether she’d reprise her role as Storm in a potential Doomsday film, playfully telling fans to “keep hoping.”
