Marvel has announced exciting news about two of its animated series: X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
As a huge animation fan, I was so excited when Marvel brought back the X-Men with ‘X-Men ’97’ on Disney+ in March 2024 – it’s a fantastic continuation of the original cartoon, and Beau DeMayo really nailed it. Then, early in 2025, we got ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ which focuses on Peter Parker’s beginnings, created by Jeff Trammell. What’s cool about both shows is that they aren’t directly connected to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe; they exist in their own separate timelines, letting the creators explore different possibilities.
What are the updates on X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?
According to Variety, the second season of X-Men ’97 will arrive in the summer of 2026. The show has also been officially picked up for a third season.
A trailer shown at New York Comic Con revealed the return of the villain Apocalypse and the X-Men, who are now spread throughout different time periods. The heroes, including Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Jubilee, and Nightcrawler, need to return to the 1990s after being lost in time.
According to Variety, the second season of *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2026. A trailer was shown at New York Comic Con, revealing that Venom and Daredevil (played by Charlie Cox) will appear in the new season. The trailers haven’t been released online yet.
According to the article, the new season will feature the introduction of Venom and Gwen Stacy, as well as the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Fans can also expect to see Norman and Harry Osborn again, along with villains like Doctor Octopus, Chameleon, and Scorpion. Plus, Nico Minoru will begin to develop magical abilities.
You can now stream both X-Men ’97 Season 1 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 1 on Disney+.
