WWE 2K26 will reportedly feature a ‘Showcase’ mode focusing on the career of CM Punk, letting players experience his most famous matches and moments. According to sources at Insider Gaming, players will progress through Punk’s story, unlocking rewards as they go. Details are still limited, but fans are anticipating a compelling and immersive experience.
We’re also curious if the creators will add any fantasy matchups. Fans would likely love to see CM Punk wrestle against legendary WWE stars. Last year’s event highlighted the Bloodline storyline and featured a total of 17 matches.
The report indicates that WWE 2K25’s open-world area, The Island, will likely be back in 2K26. Like the City in NBA 2K, it lets you roam and explore with your created player. Although it received a mixed response last year, we’re interested to see how 2K improves it for the next game. Here’s what we know so far.
Currently, a conflict for control is unfolding on the Island of Relevancy. Three different groups will battle for dominance, and we’ll share more details as the game’s release approaches. Luckily, players with the Switch 2 will be able to enjoy this new mode.
WWE 2K26 will have a wide variety of match types, including four brand new ones. The game is also improving existing modes like WarGames and adding a more dynamic backstage brawl. Players will be able to choose from a huge roster of over 200 wrestlers, featuring today’s biggest stars, legendary performers from the past, and up-and-coming talent from NXT.
As for the new match types, they reportedly include:
- I Quit Match – Match can only end when one wrestler quits
- Inferno Match – Light your opponent on fire
- Three Stages of Hell Match – Best of three match type where each round become increasingly dangerous
- Dumpster Match – TBA
We’re getting our first look at WWE 2K26, and with the game coming out soon, more details are on the way. We might hear something official this month, but we’re certain to learn more next month.
