Luuk Herssen Build Overview in Wuthering Waves 3.1

Luuk’s fighting style revolves around three main ideas: building up Tune Strain, controlling Ichor Flow, and fighting effectively in the air.

He gains Ichor Flow by attacking and using his skills. Once he reaches 300 Ichor Flow, he transforms into the Aureate Judge, unlocking a stronger version of his Resonance Skill. Using this enhanced skill costs 100 Ichor Flow per cast and allows him to cycle through three different forms.

Once he’s improved a skill three times, he gains an Ichor Deposit, which can be exploded during a downward aerial attack to deal extra damage. Each time he uses an improved Resonance Skill, he also builds up a stack that boosts the power of his Resonance Liberation ability.

Essentially, you should cast Liberation right after completing his full attack sequence, once all three of his enhanced skills have been used. Here’s how that looks in practice: start by switching to Luuk while your Ichor Flow is full, using his Intro Skill. Then, use regular attacks to activate his enhanced Resonance Skill three times. Detonate the Ichor Deposit with a plunging attack, and finally, use Liberation to finish the sequence.

Best Weapons For Luuk Herssen

Luuk Herssen is a powerful damage dealer who primarily relies on his normal attacks – including those enhanced by his Resonance and Liberation abilities. He benefits most from increases to his ATK, CRIT Rate/DMG, Spectro DMG Bonus, and overall Basic Attack DMG, making weapons that boost these stats his best choices.

Daybreaker’s Spine (5 Star – Signature Weapon)

This is his most powerful gear choice. It increases Crit Rate and Attack power. After each basic attack, it boosts Spectro damage and applying Tune Strain – Shifting further increases basic attack damage and reduces enemy defense.

As a Luuk player, I’ve noticed he’s amazing at keeping up Tune Strain and consistently hitting enemies with Basic Attacks while they’re airborne. Because of that, he really maximizes the benefits of this weapon’s passive ability – he’s always triggering it!

Pulsation Bracer (5★ – Standard Banner)

This new weapon is a powerful and easy-to-get choice for players. It boosts your attack power and increases damage with normal attacks against enemies affected by Tune Strain – Interfered. Since Tune Strain is a key part of Luuk’s abilities, this weapon works really well, making it a fantastic option for players who don’t spend money on the game.

Other Viable Options

Blazing Justice boosts your Critical Damage and ability to pierce enemy defenses after using its ultimate, while Abyss Surges increases your Attack power and helps you regain energy, plus it works well with both normal attacks and special skills. For 4-star options, Aether Strike and Celestial Spiral can be used as temporary solutions, but they aren’t as strong as 5-star gauntlets because their base stats are lower.

If you’re unable to get his signature item, the Pulsation Bracer will make Luuk strong enough to handle challenging endgame content.

Best Echo Set For Luuk Herssen

Okay, as a huge fan of Luuk Herssen, I can confidently say the Rite of Gilded Revelation set is his absolute best Echo set – it’s a clear winner! What I love is that even just the two-piece bonus boosts your Spectro damage, but when you get the full five pieces, your basic attacks actually build up stacks of Spectro damage, making it seriously powerful.

Once you’ve fully stacked Resonance, using Resonance Liberation significantly boosts your basic attack damage, making it ideal for Luuk’s combat sequence.

When building for the Main Echo, the 3-star Twin Nova – Nebulous Cannon is a great choice. It boosts both Spectro and Basic Attack damage as a passive effect, making it a better option than other similar weapons.

Recommended Echo Stats

When choosing enhancements, focus on Crit Rate or Crit Damage for your 4-cost Echo, depending on your weapon. For 3-cost pieces, prioritize Spectro Damage Bonus, and on 1-cost pieces, focus on increasing your ATK%.

When choosing stats for your character, prioritize Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Attack%, and a bonus to Basic Attack damage. Also, focus on Energy Recharge to keep your abilities flowing smoothly. Aim for around 120-130% Energy Recharge to guarantee you can use his 125-cost Liberation ability with each rotation.

Best Teams and How to Play Luuk Herssen

Luuk excels at dealing damage over extended battles, particularly when fighting bosses. He builds up power by repeatedly using his special abilities and basic attacks, focusing on stacking a bonus called ‘Tune Strain’. To maximize his effectiveness, he needs teammates who can boost his ability power and damage output.

Tune Strain Core Team (Best Overall)

Luuk Herssen – Lynae – Mornye

Currently, this is his most powerful team. All three characters work together using the Tune Strain system, allowing for higher maximum stacks and more effective Tune Breaks. Mornye increases how quickly Off-Tune builds up and boosts overall damage, and Lynae adds even more stack generation and Tune Strain benefits.

With this change, Luuk can get to his powerful Tune Strain – Interfered stacks more quickly and reliably, letting him deal significantly more damage.

Hypercarry Setup

Luuk Herssen – Sanhua – Mornye

If you’re trying to increase Luuk’s damage, Sanhua is a strong choice because she boosts his basic attack damage. Mornye remains a solid support character, as she greatly improves the effectiveness of Tune.

If you’d prefer more critical hit support or better survivability, you can swap Shorekeeper in for Mornye. However, doing so will reduce how well Luuk’s abilities work together.

Skill Priority and Investment

When upgrading Luuk’s Forte tree, prioritize:

  • Resonance Skill and Resonance Liberation first, as these are his primary damage sources.
  • Forte Circuit comes next.
  • Basic Attacks are third, since they’re a big part of his DPS.
  • Intro Skill can be upgraded last.

When investing in Resonance Chain, S2 and S3 are the optimal stopping points. These stages provide the most significant power boosts due to improved Liberation scaling and stronger skill multipliers. Despite this, Luuk is quite effective even at S0 and doesn’t need early sequences to succeed in the later stages of the game.

Is Luuk Herssen Worth Pulling?

Luuk Herssen is currently a top-performing damage dealer (DPS) for Spectro, as of version 3.1. He excels in battles against bosses, and his damage output is significantly increased when used with teams that focus on maximizing the effects of his Tune Strain ability.
