A homeowner in Tennessee was stunned to find her entire concrete driveway had been stolen while she was trying to sell her renovated house, creating a frustrating and expensive problem.
Paige Batten, a realtor, bought the house in 2024 intending to renovate and resell it. She discovered the driveway was missing after a prospective buyer inquired about its completion. Batten had believed the driveway was already in place, but later found out it had been removed around November 14th.
According to Local 3 News, neighbors reported seeing several trucks and pieces of heavy equipment at the property for about two hours before the robbery. They described a truck with a trailer, a dump truck carrying a backhoe, and another truck loaded with equipment. Most people thought the workers were there for a regular job.

Driveway stolen in broad daylight
Batten reported the driveway’s disappearance to the non-emergency police line, but found it difficult to describe because it seemed so strange. She mentioned that some initially thought old photos of the driveway were fake, created using artificial intelligence, until they saw the property themselves.
People who live nearby said they noticed or heard equipment moving something heavy, likely concrete, but didn’t think much of it because it seemed like normal work. One neighbor mentioned seeing workers on the driveway while she was taking her children to the bus stop.
Batten thinks the workers might have accidentally gone to the wrong location. If no one claims responsibility for the error, she could be stuck with a $12,000 bill. Her main goal is to find the crew who did the work so they can fix the mistake without her having to pay for it.
