A woman in California is getting a lot of attention online for a unique way to find a husband: she’s rented billboards! Right now, though, she’s only displaying them along one particular highway.
These days, there are endless ways to meet someone. Dating apps and websites let you search for a partner with very specific criteria, or keep your options broad.
The internet has led to both wonderful and terrible experiences for people seeking romance. However, Lisa Catalano of California hasn’t let those stories discourage her.
Catalano is getting a lot of attention online for her ‘MarryLisa’ campaign. She’s put up billboards in her home state, though they’re currently limited to a 50-mile section of a single highway. The total cost of the billboards hasn’t been revealed.

MarryLisa campaign picks up steam
“This is a genuine effort, not a publicity stunt,” Catalano explained to the New York Post, responding to the many people asking about her search. “I’m fully funding this myself, and my only goal is to find my husband.”
Some TikTok users are making fun of her unusual approach to finding a husband – a strategy usually used by lawyers and large restaurant chains. But the 42-year-old remains confident in her method.
She dreams of finding love, getting married, and having a family. She believes her perfect partner is somewhere out there.
Catalano is looking for a man between 35 and 45 years old who shares her religious and political views and prioritizes a healthy lifestyle. It’s important to her that he has no criminal record and is ready to start a family in the next two to three years.
She’s optimistic about finding love and isn’t concerned about how much the advertising costs – she just wants to meet the right person.
She explained on TikTok that she’ll share a detailed update once she’s met with someone and finished dealing with the billboards. She’s been working on this for a few weeks and hopes she won’t need to keep renting the billboards much longer.
She’s also planning to grow the search effort if it needs to continue. Her latest idea is to advertise on taxi tops, and she’s particularly focused on a man who regularly monitors traffic.
Though, she did note she has had plenty of applications so far.
