The Magic: The Gathering Monster Hunter Secret Lair Announcement
Wizards of the Coast announced that a special Magic: The Gathering and Monster Hunter collaboration, called a Secret Lair superdrop, will be available from December 1st to December 21st, 2025. This release will feature four different sets of cards inspired by the monsters from the Monster Hunter series.

The first set, called Secret Lair x Monster Hunter: The Hunt, highlights the powerful attacks of the monsters featured in the game. To reflect this, it presents non-creature spells as if they were cast by these impressive characters. Here’s a look at the cards included in the set:
- Blind Obedience (Featuring Malzeno and Qurio)
- Snap (Featuring Kushala Daora)
- Village Rites (Featuring Magnamalo and Tobi-Kadachi)
- Mizzium Mortars (Featuring Yian Garuga)
- Tooth and Nail (Featuring Azure Rathalos and Seregios)

The second release of the Magic: The Gathering Monster Hunter Secret Lair collection highlights the hunters themselves – the heroes who battle the game’s monsters. Each card showcases a different set of armor and weapons, which are central to how players advance in the Monster Hunter series. This drop includes:
- Grand Abolisher as Dual-Bladed Hunter
- Archeomancer as Hero of Hoarfrost Reach
- Grim Haruspex as Nargacuga Stalker
- Imperial Recruiter as Bherna Huntmaster
- Champion of Lambholt as Champion of Kotoko

The latest expansions focus on monsters, bringing nine of the most famous creatures from the series to life as powerful Legendary Creatures. Here’s a list of those cards:
- Nezahal Primal Tide as Lagiacrus, Lord of the Seas
- Drakuseth, Maw of Flames as Rathalos, King of the Skies
- Ziatora the Incinerator as Fatalis, the Black Dragon
- Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire as Nergigante, Herald of Destruction
- Sarulf, Realm Eater as Zinogre, Lord of Lightning
- Razaketh, the Foulblooded as Gore Magala, Dark Eclipse
- Kalamax, the Stormsire as Brachydios, Brutish Indigo
- Wasitora, Nekoru Queen as Nargacuga, Ever-Present Shadow
- Amareth, the Lustrous as Velkhana, Silver Sovereign
As of today, the price for the Magic: The Gathering Monster Hunter Secret Lair collection hasn’t been announced. However, based on the pricing of other Secret Lair collaborations—like those with Sonic the Hedgehog and The Office—we expect the non-foil versions to cost around $30 and the foil versions around $40.
