
Hi-Fi Rush was a major success in 2023, quickly earning over 10,000 positive reviews on Steam and attracting more than 2 million players. It received critical acclaim, winning awards for its audio design and animation. However, just a year after its release, the development studio, Tango Gameworks, was closed down. In August 2024, Krafton bought Tango Gameworks from Microsoft, and after a period of silence, announced in November 2025 that they now control the game’s publishing and plan to release new updates. This leaves fans wondering what the future holds for Hi-Fi Rush.
Is it going to be an AI-powered revival?
Good news for fans of Hi-Fi Rush: the game’s official X account has confirmed the change in publishers and announced that new updates are coming soon, gradually. Now, the big questions are what those updates will be and how much of the new content might be created using AI, especially considering Krafton hasn’t had the best track record lately.

Krafton, the company behind PUBG, and the original creators of the game Subnautica are currently in a legal dispute. When Krafton acquired Unknown Worlds, they agreed to a $250 million bonus if Subnautica 2 was financially successful. However, the former leaders of Unknown Worlds – Charlie Cleveland, Max McGuire, and Ted Gill – claim Krafton deliberately delayed the game’s release and reduced its funding to avoid paying the bonus.
Players are also upset, with some suggesting Krafton intentionally hindered the game’s development. The complaints aren’t just about this particular game either; people playing other games made by Krafton have voiced their concerns as well.
The situation became more complicated in October when Krafton announced a major push into artificial intelligence. They plan to integrate AI into all aspects of their business – from creative and management positions to technical roles. At the same time, Krafton offered a “voluntary resignation” program, which the company claims is designed to help employees through the changes. However, many employees and fans believe this is simply a way to reduce the workforce through layoffs disguised as voluntary departures.
Let me reiterate: this might not be great news for fans of Hi-Fi Rush. It’s unclear what the future updates will look like, and there’s concern about how much of the new content could be made using AI.
