I’ve always felt like superheroes have been around forever, if you think about it – all those old myths about gods were basically early versions! Now, those stories have evolved, and we’re seeing more realistic takes on what it would really be like if people with superpowers lived among us. A lot of movies and shows, like ‘Invincible,’ lean into the darker side of that idea. But what I love about games is that you get to be part of the story. ‘Dispatch’ seems to be doing just that – taking the best of both worlds. It’s a story-focused game that’s coming out in episodes, and episodes 7 and 8 are supposed to wrap up the main plot. I’m really hoping the developers aren’t finished yet, though – a ninth episode would be amazing! We’ll just have to wait and see what they decide.
Is Episode 9 coming to Dispatch?
As Nelly Furtado famously sang, all good things must come to an end. It’s disappointing to see the show Dispatch conclude after just 8 episodes, especially considering its warm reception and impressive sales of 1 million copies in 10 days for an independent title. While fans might hope for a ninth episode, extending the series isn’t necessarily the best course of action for its creators.

Every compelling story needs a beginning, middle, and end, though these parts can vary in length. Importantly, every story should feel complete. We’re planning the story of the Z-Team and Robert Robertson (also known as Mecha Man) to be told in just 8 episodes, making further episodes highly improbable. Because the game lets players make choices that change the plot, figuring out how to end the story is quite challenging. A shorter, more focused story will be easier to manage and ultimately feel more satisfying.
Don’t worry just yet! There’s a strong possibility AdHoc Studio will make another season set in the world you love. This would allow the developers to either continue the existing story or start fresh with a reset. They might even introduce a completely new storyline with different characters, perhaps even taking us to a new location like New York. Only time will tell, but letting the developers know what you think through positive feedback on platforms like Discord and X will definitely influence the future of the game. Enjoy!
