TopMob interviewed Alfie Williams about the upcoming film, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. The actor discussed the possibility of his character revisiting Holy Island, considering the events involving the Jimmy cult.

The Bone Temple is a fantastic horror film. As we noted in our five-star review, director Nia DaCosta successfully builds on the gritty, post-apocalyptic setting of the original while also bringing a new vision to the story.

I just finished watching Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later, and wow! It’s connected to The Bone Temple, and they filmed them back-to-back. The ending really got to me – Spike actually leaves his baby daughter, Isla, at Holy Island with a note for his dad, Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), explaining he’s staying over on the mainland. It’s a pretty big decision, and left me wondering what happens next!

During his time with Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) and his crew, Spike is rescued, but he soon discovers they are much more threatening than he initially thought, especially when they reach The Bone Temple.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple talks Spike’s future

TopMob questioned Williams about the possibility of Spike eventually returning to his family at Holy Island, considering everything he experiences in The Bone Temple. Williams suggested it’s possible, but Spike seems to prefer life on the mainland.

Chi Lewis-Parry and Alfie Williams talked about what’s next for ’28 Years Later’ and expressed their desire to continue working within that universe.

According to Williams, the character stated in a letter at the end of the first movie that he would return when he felt prepared, so the story now focuses on when that moment will be for him.

It’s hard to say when he’ll return to that lifestyle – it could be a few months, or even a few years. It really depends on when he feels ready. Honestly, I believe he’s happy living on the mainland right now.

Chi Lewis-Parry, who appears in Williams and Samson, has discussed coming back for the third film in the ’28 Years Later’ series, now that it’s officially happening.

Lewis-Parry said he felt deeply connected to the world of the film and returning to it was a natural decision. He described it as an important part of his life, and emphasized the scale of the project, calling it ’28 Years Later’ and saying, ‘It doesn’t get much bigger than that.’

I totally agree with Williams – this film series is something special and deserves to be recognized as its own thing! He’s right, everyone keeps comparing it to zombie movies, but it’s so much more than that. It really feels like it’s creating a whole new genre within the post-apocalyptic world, and that’s amazing!
