This exciting new game will be available on the latest gaming platforms such as PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series S and X, and of course PC. If you’re eager to jump into the action, you can already purchase the Deluxe or Super Deluxe Editions and get ready for some co-op fun! But what about those who own older consoles? Let’s discuss that next.

Borderlands 4 on Switch and Switch 2

It was previously mentioned that Borderlands 4 is slated for release on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. However, for clarity, it should be noted that the game will not be available on Nintendo’s console on September 11 or 12, 2025 as initially suggested. Instead, it will be released later, specifically at 12:00 AM on October 3 across most time zones (please note, this is not a simultaneous release worldwide). Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to publish the latest Borderlands game on the original Nintendo Switch.

Borderlands 4 on PS4 and Xbox One

It appears that Borderlands 4 will debut exclusively on current-generation consoles initially, with no plans for older systems like PS4 and Xbox One. Given recent developments, this isn’t too surprising. Randy Pitchford, the CEO and co-founder of Gearbox Software, has stated that the technology now available allows developers to finally match their ambitions, implying that the game will take advantage of the power offered by modern machines.

Borderlands 4 high demand for power is visible with quite high minimum requirements on PC:
