Wikipedia gacha game turns random pages into Pokemon cards you can collect

A unique online game called Wikigacha is transforming Wikipedia into a card game. Players can virtually open packs to collect random articles from the entire database.

This online game reimagines Wikipedia as Pokemon trading card packs. Instead of finding familiar Pokemon like Pikachu or Charizard, players discover cards featuring historical people, scientific ideas, or even countries.

With Wikipedia’s huge collection of information, the game includes over 6.74 million unique cards. Because any Wikipedia article could become a card, the possibilities are endless – you might collect cards based on almost anything!

New TCG lets you battle with Wikipedia pages

Every Wikigacha pack includes five cards created from random Wikipedia articles. Better, more detailed articles are rarer and considered more valuable ‘pulls’, so you’re more likely to get a great card from a well-written or authoritative entry.

You gradually get new packs, regaining one every minute, but you can only store up to 10 at a time. You can also earn more by completing daily missions or watching advertisements. Plus, if you open 10 packs, the game guarantees your next pack will include a card that’s at least SR-rarity or better.

We create card statistics using information from each article. A card’s attack strength is based on how many people view the article, and its defense is determined by the article’s length.

The game offers more than just collecting cards. Players can also battle daily raid bosses and compete against each other in player-versus-player (PvP) matches, using the decks they’ve built. There’s even a trophy and achievement system to reward progress and victories.

Wikigacha is a pretty unusual online game, but it’s just one of many that have gained attention recently. Earlier this year, in January, a Super Monkey Ball enthusiast managed to make the original games playable directly in a web browser.
