James Gunn has shared details about the Peacemaker Season 2 finale, mentioning he considered having Ryan Reynolds appear as Deadpool. Ultimately, the cameo didn’t happen. Be warned: spoilers follow!
The second season of Peacemaker wrapped up with a fantastic final episode, blending humor, intense action, heartbreaking moments, and a touch of romance as Chris Smith and Emilia Harcourt confessed their feelings for one another.
The show almost ended on a positive note with the 11th Street Kids starting their own organization dedicated to improving the world. However, things took a dark turn when Peacemaker was kidnapped by Rick Flagg Sr. and sent to a prison planet named Salvation.
The quest to find the planet led to a chaotic and funny encounter with the Imps, and almost included a significant appearance by a Marvel character.
Deadpool dropped from Peacemaker due to hoops James Gunn had to jump through

While this was happening, A.R.G.U.S. agents tried opening doors within the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, searching for a safe, breathable location on the other side.
The team comes across Imps and Marvel Zombies, but James Gunn, the creator of Peacemaker, recently told Variety they had also considered having Harcourt and her colleagues meet Deadpool, known as the ‘Merc with a Mouth’.
James Gunn envisioned a scene where characters would open a door to reveal Deadpool. He discussed the idea with Ryan Reynolds, who was enthusiastic about it. However, making it happen would have required overcoming significant challenges.
The challenge is that Peacemaker exists within the DC Universe, while Deadpool is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Gunn immediately worried about how people would react, exclaiming, “Oh no, everyone’s just going to be talking about Deadpool being in there now. I really shouldn’t have mentioned it!”
