I just heard some really upsetting news about a movie I was looking forward to! Apparently, Timothy Busfield, who was supposed to be in it with Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy, is being taken out of the film. It sounds like it’s because of allegations of abuse, and the producers are digitally removing him. It’s a shame, but honestly, if the allegations are true, it’s the right thing to do.
Busfield became well-known for his role as Arnold Poindexter in the Revenge of the Nerds films during the 1980s. He continued to build his career with a leading part in the popular ABC series Thirtysomething, and later appeared often on The West Wing.
Beyond his stage work, he’s appeared in films like Field of Dreams, Sneakers, and Quiz Show. Recently, he’s been concentrating on directing television shows.
Following accusations related to his behavior on a 2022 TV series, Busfield is being removed from an upcoming Amazon-MGM romantic comedy he was appearing in.
Why is Timothy Busfield being removed from You Deserve Each Other?
Actor Timothy Busfield is being removed from the romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other following allegations of groping a seven-year-old boy while working on the set of the TV show The Cleaning Lady.
The movie You Deserve Each Other, based on the book by Sarah Hogle, is a romantic comedy directed by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn. It stars Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy as a couple who realize they’ve lost their spark right before their wedding.
This movie isn’t the first to be impacted by the accusations. Back in January, an episode of Law & Order: SVU that included the actor was removed from NBC’s broadcast schedule.
Sexual abuse allegations explained

On January 9, 2026, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Timothy Busfield, accusing him of two counts of sexually abusing a minor.
Variety reports that the investigation involves two young boys who were featured on the TV show The Cleaning Lady in 2022, during an episode directed by Busfield.
On January 13th, he surrendered to authorities in Albuquerque, maintaining his innocence and telling Deadline, “I did not do anything to those little boys.” He also submitted letters from friends and colleagues with his legal response, praising his character.
Today, January 20th, Busfield will appear in court to address three charges: two counts of unlawful contact with a child, each carrying a potential six-year sentence, and one count of child abuse, which could result in up to three years in prison.
