As a big Nintendo fan, I was really interested to hear what Reggie Fils-Aimé had to say recently. He basically expressed surprise that Microsoft hasn’t been more all-in on releasing games for the Switch 2. It seems like a missed opportunity to him, and honestly, I kind of agree!
I was reading an interview with Reggie Fils-Aimé, and he basically said it’s totally feasible to bring some games over to the new Switch. He even seemed a little surprised we haven’t seen more developers doing that already! It makes sense, though – there are probably a lot of games that would play great on the Switch 2.
He expected a larger increase, particularly as the holidays approached.
Fils-Aimé mentioned he anticipated Microsoft would make a specific announcement regarding which of their games would be available on the Switch 2, and expressed surprise that hadn’t occurred yet.
Microsoft is planning to release Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on the Switch 2 in 2026. Several Microsoft games, including Minecraft and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, are already available to play on the new console. While Microsoft recently announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, they didn’t mention it would be coming to Switch 2, though rumors suggest it might.
Phil Spencer has said he wants to support Nintendo
Earlier this year, Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft Gaming, expressed his excitement about bringing Xbox games to Nintendo consoles in the future.
Spencer believes Nintendo is a vital force in the gaming industry. He expressed strong confidence in their continued success, pointing to the massive popularity of the Switch and anticipating similar results with the Switch 2. He feels they consistently excel at what they do.
Microsoft has repeatedly stated its desire to release Call of Duty games on Nintendo Switch, but so far, that hasn’t materialized. The latest installment, Black Ops 7, is also not currently planned for the upcoming Switch 2 console.
