George Clooney decided to raise his children on a farm in France because he didn’t want them to be influenced by Hollywood’s values and lifestyle.
Actor George Clooney, known for films like The Wolf of Wall Street and Ocean’s Eleven, married human rights lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014. Since then, he’s been careful to keep his work and private life distinct.
In a 2018 interview on David Letterman’s Netflix show, George Clooney shared that he fell in love with his wife because her happiness became more important to him than his own – something he’d never felt before.
In 2017, the couple had twins, Alexander and Ella. They chose to raise them on a farm in France, rather than in the glamorous world of Hollywood, and here’s their reason why.
George Clooney was concerned about his kids being compared to other famous children

Clooney’s main worry about raising his children in Hollywood was the unavoidable public attention they’d face due to his and his wife’s fame.
He told Esquire he had concerns about raising his children in Los Angeles, specifically within the Hollywood environment. He worried they wouldn’t have a normal life, feeling that France offered a different atmosphere where celebrity status wasn’t a big deal.
I want my children to be able to live their lives without constantly worrying about being photographed by the paparazzi, and I don’t want them to be measured against other celebrity children.
George Clooney, starring as an actor in the upcoming Netflix film *Jay Kelly*, shared that he didn’t enjoy being raised on a farm himself, but he believes the countryside is good for his own children, helping them develop a positive outlook.
I spent a lot of my childhood on a farm, and I really didn’t like it at the time. But looking back, I realize my parents weren’t glued to screens like kids are today.
“They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.”
