Even though the official trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hasn’t been released yet, we’re getting a good look at Yoshi thanks to an unexpected place: a Pillsbury box! The box features Yoshi and Mario as part of a promotion for the upcoming film.
Okay, so I was browsing at Tops Friendly Markets – it’s a grocery store up here in the northeast – and I totally freaked out! They had these adorable Pillsbury sugar cookies shaped like Yoshi eggs! Everyone remembers that little Yoshi tease at the end of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, right? Well, seeing these cookies makes me think Yoshi is definitely going to be a big part of the next movie, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie! It feels like a confirmation, honestly, since Tops accidentally put them out early.

Plus, the Pillsbury box seems to hint that Bowser Jr. will be in the new movie. It includes a tracing activity for kids where they guide Mario and Yoshi through space, and interestingly, Bowser Jr.’s image marks the end of one of the paths.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the popular Super Mario Bros. games, and Nintendo celebrated with a presentation in September. During the presentation, they announced the next Mario movie will be called The Super Mario Bros. Galaxy Movie, and it will hit theaters on April 3rd.
Nintendo recently re-released Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, which many consider to be the best 3D platforming games ever made. The company also has long-term plans to keep Mario relevant for another century.
