TwitchCon 2025 is coming up soon, but some popular streamers have announced they won’t be there, despite it being a major event for the community.
TwitchCon is coming to San Diego, California from October 17th to 19th. It’s the biggest annual event for the platform’s most popular streamers, offering fans a chance to meet their favorite creators and see content being made live.
We’re seeing fewer influencer guests this year. Several popular internet personalities who usually attend have cancelled, expressing worries about their safety and a general sense of unease related to current events.
Valkyrae & QTCinderella cancel live TwitchCon podcast episode
Valkyrae and QTCinderella were among the first well-known streamers to share their concerns about TwitchCon. They discussed their worries on their podcast, ‘Wine About It,’ where Valkyrae explained she’d been feeling anxious, scared, and upset for the past week due to recent events.
So, things are kinda tricky right now. We’re trying to figure out how to do our “Wine About It” live show *and* TwitchCon. I really appreciate TwitchCon supporting our show, but I’ve let them know we’re a little stressed and things are hectic at the moment.
Following the recent events, Rae announced she and QT would be skipping TwitchCon this year.
She admitted she was feeling deeply uneasy about the current state of the world. “I just don’t feel safe or comfortable with everything that’s going on,” she explained. “It feels like such chaotic times.”
The streamers mentioned past acts of violence against women who broadcast online. They specifically referenced the tragic murder of Airi Sato, a Japanese influencer who was fatally stabbed during a live stream in March 2025 by someone who disliked her content.
Pokimane drops out of TwitchCon in favor of Gucci fashion show
Pokimane also voiced concerns about TwitchCon during her livestream, echoing similar feelings that Rae and QT discussed on their podcast.
She expressed concern for her safety, saying she thought it would be best to avoid the event. She mentioned the shooting of political podcaster Charlie Kirk at a public speaking event in September 2025 as a reason for her worry.
She explained that a lot of the most intensely negative and hateful comments come from people on Twitter, and many of those same people also participate in live streaming. This is concerning, she said, because it makes her hesitant to share her location for in-person events, wondering if it’s safe to do so.
Pokimane announced on October 7th that she won’t be attending TwitchCon this year. Instead, she’s traveling to Milan, Italy for the Gucci fashion show. She did mention a small chance she might be able to make a quick appearance on the final day of TwitchCon.
Just letting everyone know – I won’t be at TwitchCon this year! I’m heading to Milan for the Gucci fashion show instead. There’s a small possibility I might be able to fly back for the last day of TwitchCon, but it’s not certain. Have fun and travel safely, everyone! ❤️

Hasan backs out of TwitchCon: “I’m afraid for the safety of others”
I noticed a lot of big names weren’t at TwitchCon this year, and Hasan Piker was one of them. He said the shooting that happened with Kirk was a big reason why he decided to skip it, which I totally understand.
He explained that recent political events have unfortunately created a challenge for him. Specifically, these events have limited his ability to go out and socialize with others.
I’m choosing not to attend TwitchCon because I’m concerned about the safety of everyone involved. I don’t want to risk drawing attention that might encourage someone to cause harm. That’s why I’ve made a public decision to stay away.

Asmongold refuses to attend TwitchCon: “That is a zoo”
Asmongold recently announced he won’t be going to TwitchCon. Unlike some others who cited personal safety concerns, Asmongold wasn’t worried about being directly targeted. However, he decided to skip the event due to past incidents of harassment against content creators and major accidents that have happened at previous TwitchCons.
Honestly, I was really questioning whether I even *wanted* to go to TwitchCon. I kept picturing people getting seriously hurt – it sounded like a total disaster waiting to happen. Seriously, the whole thing sounded…intense, almost like something else entirely. Nope, definitely not for me. No way am I going near that.
I’m staying in. They’ve created a zoo-like environment here. The decorations are acting as the animals, and it feels like the people watching might be part of it, too.
Asmongold previously responded to news of some streamers skipping TwitchCon, and advised women not to attend the event.
Maybe: LilyPichu considers canceling meet-and-greets
During her ‘Sweet ‘n Sour’ podcast with Pokimane, LilyPichu discussed TwitchCon. She said she’s committed to having her booth at Artist Alley, but she’s been thinking about canceling her planned meet-and-greets with fans.
She explained she needed to get to her artist alley booth and was considering canceling her meeting. She admitted she hadn’t been feeling up to socializing lately, saying, ‘I think a lot of people are… I’m just not in the mood to meet people.’
We’re not sure about TwitchCon this year…

At the time of writing, she has not confirmed whether or not she will be canceling these meetups.
Twitch responds to growing safety concerns from streamers
After Valkyrae and QT shared their safety concerns on a podcast, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy addressed the issue during a Patch Notes stream. He emphasized that Twitch prioritizes security at all of its events.
We want to be absolutely clear: safety and security at our events, such as TwitchCon, are our top priorities. We constantly improve our safety measures each year, especially as we learn about new potential risks and challenges.
We have dedicated teams working year-round to ensure the safety of creators and our community, both on Twitch and at TwitchCon. We have specific guidelines for attendees, and anyone permanently banned from Twitch for violating our rules is not allowed to attend TwitchCon.
Clancy hasn’t said anything more after several streamers announced they were no longer attending TwitchCon. More broadcasters are pulling out, either because they’re worried about their safety or to protest previous issues.
