As a long-time fan of the gripping and emotional drama that is 9-1-1, I find myself deeply invested in the lives of its characters. One character that has captured my attention recently is Buck, played by Oliver Stark.

In the thrilling sixth episode of 9-1-1’s eighth season, I found myself on the edge of my seat as Buck’s fresh romance took an unexpected turn. But what happens next in his love life? Who will ultimately be the one for him in the end?

In the debut episode of the highly addictive TV series, viewers were acquainted with Evan “Buck” Buckley, a character who has captivated us from that moment forward.

Apart from being Maddie’s younger sibling, he has played significant roles in various plotlines, such as the incident involving Freddie Costa and the fire truck, joining forces with Chase Mackey to sue the city, and making the choice to act as a sperm donor.

Initially, his relationship started with character Abby Clark in previous episodes, but in Season 7, he revealed his bisexuality, significantly altering the trajectory of his character. Now, let’s explore what has transpired since then and how 9-1-1 Season 8 impacts who Buck ultimately ends up with.

9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 6 broke up Buck and Tommy

It seems that Abby had been secretly engaged to Tommy, something Buck wasn’t aware of. This unexpected revelation led to a breakup between them, which unfolded in Season 8, Episode 6.

In Season 7, Buck’s feelings about his sexuality reached a pivotal point, as he grew resentful when Eddie started spending more time with Tommy. This led to an incident during a basketball game where Buck unintentionally injured Eddie. Later, he expressed regret for disrupting their relationship to Tommy.

However, an unexpected turn of events – Tommy does indeed take a liking to Buck! The duo go on a date, but things take a sour turn when Eddie shows up, prompting Tommy to fabricate their activities. This deception results in more confusion and apologies, but as Maddie’s wedding to Chimney approaches, it becomes evident that they have been dating.

Transition to Season 8 Episode 6, and things reach a climax. It turns out that Tommy had been engaged to Abby for two years, yet never once mentioned it – even though he joined the cast back in Season 2. The repercussions of this revelation are still playing out, but it’s evident that Buck is attempting to shield himself by ending things with Tommy so abruptly.

From the beginning of their relationship, Buck openly admitted his lack of experience, contributing to some initial bumps in the road. Given Tommy’s past history as a ladies’ man in previous episodes, it seems plausible that he anticipated Buck might cause him pain eventually.

As per Lou Ferrigno Jr., the actor portraying Tommy, he feels their bond wasn’t meant for a lasting future. In his words to Fangirlish: “To be honest, I don’t think their relationship developed enough depth for them to commit to any significant long-term plans.

The breakup scene was skillfully penned, conveying the impression that Tommy is merely acting to stay alive. I couldn’t help but wish it had lasted longer. Meanwhile, Buck seems to be noticing those girls, which is painful for Tommy and any person in a relationship who sees their partner showing interest in others.

Tommy has little influence over a lot of the circumstances, and it seems like he might feel guilty or believe he’s misled Buck so much that Buck is altering his own integrity. I don’t think Tommy wants to be the cause of that, as his past with Abby suggests he doesn’t want to repeat such actions,” he went on.

Will Tommy and Buck get back together?

As a dedicated fan, I can’t definitively say whether we’ll see a ninth season of 9-1-1, but the way Episode 6 unfolded makes it feel like Tommy might not return. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for more updates!

The progression of events largely depends on whether or not 9-1-1 gets renewed for a ninth season. At the moment, there’s no official word about this, but if it does happen, we might get an update immediately following the conclusion of Season 8.

But even if we do get more episodes, that doesn’t automatically mean Tommy will be coming back. The fact he has disappeared and then reappeared in the new TV show means it’s not a complete no to say he’s never coming back after the break-up.

Regardless, let’s examine the evidence. Typically, one gains significant insights from their initial romantic experience, regardless of its nature – for instance, Buck’s first same-sex relationship. These lessons can serve as a foundation for growth in the time ahead.

If 9-1-1 wants to continue Buck’s emotional growth, going back to Tommy only feels regressive.

Oliver Stark hinted that character Buck will likely focus on constructive pastimes to cope with his sorrow, showing an almost excessive passion for it. This devotion catches the attention of those close to him, resulting in some amusing and entertaining moments for the show’s cast.

In a manner characteristic of Buck, he’ll press on and discover methods to deal with the situation. Initially, at least, any signs of struggle will likely be concealed, presenting an image of “I’m fine.

Did anything ever happen with Eddie?

Despite the whispers of romance, it’s important to note that Buck and Eddie have maintained a strictly non-romantic relationship.

In their screen partnership, there’s often been an undeniable bond, which might be seen as romantic… and this observation is further strengthened when considering the significant impact Eddie has had on their relationship dynamics.

With Tommy no longer involved, the opportunity presents itself for Buck and Eddie to explore what lies ahead, and it seems they are ready to embrace that chance, as suggested by the cast members.

I’m certainly receptive to that idea. There seems to be potential and a certain connection, as you might have noticed. If things progress in that direction, I believe it could be an intriguing prospect.” (said on an episode of the Zach Sang Show) “If it comes to that point, then I’d consider it a possibility.

He stated, “It seems reciprocal, doesn’t it? I can definitely envision this as a compelling narrative.” Regarding Eddie’s character, he continued, “I’m unsure about its development. However, I believe it’s crucial to handle the situation delicately because I don’t want the story to portray a scenario where a man reveals his feelings and all his male companions react with ‘Oh, you have a crush on me?’ I aim to be thoughtful in telling such a tale.

9-1-1’s eighth season is being broadcast on ABC every week. Don’t miss out on other popular series like 9-1-1 Lone Star in its fifth season and Grey’s Anatomy in its twenty-first season. You can also keep up with the top shows of the year that have aired thus far.
