Who are the Teenage Kix? The Boys Season 5 new supes & powers explained

If you’ve been watching The Boys, you might already know about the Teenage Kix. But they really appear in Season 5, Episode 2, so let’s break down who they are, what powers they have, and how they compare to the characters in the original comics.

The fifth and final season of The Boys focuses on the escalating conflict between Homelander and Butcher, though it’s also full of unexpected twists and complex storylines.

The show draws from the same comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, but it doesn’t stick to the original storyline very closely, so it’s difficult to guess what will happen next. For example, the relationship between Homelander and Soldier Boy is different in the comics.

The show’s creator, Eric Kripke, enjoys including characters from the original comics as Easter eggs for longtime fans – like the appearance of Tek Knight’s assistant in Season 4. Now, another comic book character, Teenage Kix, is about to make his debut. Be warned – spoilers follow!

Who are the Teenage Kix

Teenage Kix is Vought International’s team of young superheroes. They’re essentially a junior version of the Seven, and serve a similar purpose to teams like DC’s Young Justice and Teen Titans, or Marvel’s Young Avengers and Runaways.

Similar to the Seven, the members of this group aren’t fixed – Vought decides who joins. We’ve seen this before in ‘The Boys,’ like when A-Train and his former girlfriend, Popclaw, were both members of the Teenage Kix. In Season 4, Ryan was also considered for a spot.

In Season 5, the team consists of Countess Crow, Sheline, Jetstreak, and Rock Hard. They primarily spend their time promoting Vought products on TikTok and gathering Starlighters to send to what are called “Freedom Camps.” Let’s take a closer look at each member and what we’ve learned about them so far.

Countess Crow

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, known for her role in Never Have I Ever, plays Countess Crow. Vought introduces her through social media posts with a dark, gothic style. She advertises beauty products—like Black Noir’s eyeliner—and carefully manages her image online.

She has the ability to connect with and control crows. While she once led a large group of them, she now relies on just two – Russell and Cameron – to scout for her and carry out attacks when she tells them to.

Sheline

Sheline, played by Emma Elle Paterson, is a member of the Teenage Kix who, like other members of the group, is used in Vought’s advertising campaigns – specifically for diet drinks and health products. Her personality and superpowers are both cat-themed.

She’s incredibly strong and agile, with retractable claws that let her quickly attack enemies. She also has some quirky habits – like coughing up hairballs and needing a very large litter box!

Jetstreak

Jetstreak, played by Dylan Colton from the show Dare Me, is often featured in promotional material created by Vought International, including ads for Firecracker’s Flaming Freedom Sticks – a snack similar to Hot Cheetos in The Boys universe.

Similar to the other members of Teenage Kix, he helps gather Starlighters. His ability to fly makes him a valuable asset to Homelander’s team, and he might have other powers that haven’t been shown yet.

Rock Hard

Rock Hard is a large, powerfully built member of Teenage Kix, and his body is literally made of rock. This gives him incredible toughness, and he can also shoot lava – which explains his massive size.

Whenever he exerts himself, new rock-like material erupts from his body, similar to how a volcano creates land. It’s pretty clear he’s a humorous parody of Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing from Marvel comics.

Teenage Kix in The Boys comics

In the comic book series The Boys, Teenage Kix is a superhero team created by Vought-American. They’re presented as a cooler, more rebellious option for younger fans compared to established teams like the Seven, and are specifically designed to appeal to teenagers with a modern, edgy image.

Teenage Kix are shown as irresponsible and wild, frequently getting into trouble privately. This behavior doesn’t go unnoticed, and the Boys begin to investigate them as part of their larger effort to reveal the shady dealings of Vought.

This sets up a major plotline where the team collects proof of wrongdoing by their opponents and then confronts them. The confrontation escalates into a fight, and tragically, Blarney Cock is killed in the chaos.

Following this, the members of the Teenage Kix in the comics include:

  • Big Game – A physically imposing supe with enhanced strength and the ability to fly, he’s the leader of the Teenage Kix
  • Dogknott – A supe with dog-like traits, he’s someone we’ve already met in The Boys TV show (although the two versions look very different)
  • Gunpowder – Little is known about his powers other than he’s a gun-toting supe, and one we’ve also met in the TV show (again, both versions are different to each other)
  • Jetstreak – A supe with superhuman strength, The Boys TV show also portrays him as having the ability to fly
  • Popclaw – A supe with retractable claws and enhanced strength, Popclaw is the only woman in the comic version of Teenage Kix, and she appears in Season 1 of the show as A-Train’s girlfriend
  • Whack Job – A violent and unstable member of the team, Whack Job has both enhanced strength and electrokinesis powers

The first two episodes of The Boys Season 5 are now available on Prime Video, and the third episode will be released on April 15th. In the meantime, you can find out more about the upcoming series Vought Rising and the next season of Gen V.
