WhistlinDiesel recovers fan’s stolen truck after shop allegedly scams her of $25k

As a gamer speaking in my own words, WhistlinDiesel, my favorite YouTuber, stepped up to assist a fan who had fallen victim to a scam. She had sent her beloved truck to a shop for some work, only to find herself out $25,000 and without her vehicle. But thanks to WhistlinDiesel’s intervention, she was able to get her truck back!

On YouTube, WhistlinDiesel boasts a massive following of approximately 9 million users, making him one of the most prominent automotive content creators on this Google-managed video platform.

Though a significant portion of his videos involves damaging vehicles, be it intentionally or not, this YouTube personality frequently dedicates his time to assisting fans in distress.

On January 24, 2025, YouTuber WhistlinDiesel (whose real name is Cody Detwiler) shared a video detailing his efforts to help a fan retrieve her stolen pickup truck that had been taken to a shop for restoration after she paid for the service.

In the video, Cody and his colleagues ventured to Plymouth, Indiana, for a prolonged period, attempting to persuade the truck’s owner, Jade, to relinquish the vehicle. However, Jade granted Cody the necessary legal authority to manage the matter, as a YouTuber.

As WhistlinDiesel, I promptly reached out to shop owner Tristan about retrieving my truck. He appeared open to the idea, but after an extended silence from him, I found myself needing to call the cops. They informed me that the matter required court proceedings before I could get my wheels back on the road again.

In the coming weeks, Cody encountered multiple instances with the police and individuals associated with the store, eventually discovering that his truck had been relocated to a storage facility close by.

With some persistent conversations with a store source, WhistlinDiesel eventually managed to retrieve the truck from a storage facility, thanks to assistance from the local law enforcement agency.

As a devoted admirer, I found myself disappointed when the YouTuber failed to deliver on the promised payment to the truck’s owner or complete the tasks for which they had been compensated.

Tristan has yet to pay off a debt of $10,000 to Jade, both in terms of work and money. Regardless, we’re determined to ensure justice is served and Jade is well taken care of. Additionally, we plan on taking legal action against Tristan for this matter. We’ll keep you updated on the court proceedings,” WhistlinDiesel stated.

This occurs shortly after the YouTube personality traveled to Los Angeles, California, to lend a hand to locals and firefighters as they battled the destructive wildfires in the city.
