Following the successful release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard towards the end of last year, BioWare studio can now dedicate all their efforts to the development of Mass Effect 5. In a statement published on their official website, the CEO of the company, Gary McKay, confirmed that work on the next edition in this popular series is currently underway.
Following the launch of “Dragon Age: The Veilguard”, a key team at BioWare is currently working on the next installment of the “Mass Effect” series. This development is being spearheaded by veterans from the original trilogy, including Mike Gamble, Preston Watamaniuk, Derek Watts, Parrish Ley, and others – as mentioned in a recent post.
McKay has stated that at this point in the development of the fifth installment, it doesn’t necessitate a large workforce. Consequently, some staff members have been reassigned to other projects managed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of BioWare.
At this point in our progress, we don’t need assistance from the entire studio. Instead, we’ve got an exceptional team here at BioWare who have been working tirelessly over the past few months to connect with other EA teams that have suitable open positions. This way, we can make the most of our collective talent.
As a passionate gamer speaking about the latest update from our favorite dev team, I’m thrilled to share that they’ve mentioned their vision for a leaner, sharper BioWare studio. This means we can expect them to craft epic RPGs that will leave lasting memories!
The IGN editorial team reached out to Electronic Arts seeking clarification on how many employees are affected by the restructuring and approximately what proportion might be facing layoffs, but the company has yet to respond. In response, a spokesperson for the corporation echoed McKay’s statement that the studio currently employs the optimal number of individuals in suitable roles to work on Mass Effect.
Just a few days ago, McKay’s announcement followed the revelation that Dragon Age: The Veilguard didn’t meet Electronic Arts’ targets.
