At the beginning of Where Winds Meet, players immediately have to choose between two starting talents – Drunken Precision and Rhetoric Edge. However, the game doesn’t explain these talents very well, offering only brief descriptions that aren’t helpful if you’re new to the game.
Starting out in Where Winds Meet can be tough, especially because you have to pick a path before you’ve even gotten your first weapons. This guide explains everything about the Drunken Precision and Rhetoric Edge styles, and helps you decide which one is best to choose at the beginning of your journey.
Drunken Precision and Rhetoric Edge in Where Winds Meet Explained
In Where Winds Meet, the Aspiration Talents Drunken Precision and Rhetoric Edge offer a small advantage in some minigames at the beginning of the game. You don’t need to worry about missing these skills, as they both unlock automatically soon after you start playing Where Winds Meet.
You’ll be able to get both of these Talents fairly quickly as you play. Here’s how to unlock them and what they do:
| Aspiration Talent | Effect | Unlock Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Drunken Precision | Use this skill in the Pitch Pot minigame to gain the Tipsy effect, shortening your aim time to one minute (default 2 minutes). Cooldown: 180 seconds. |
|
| Rhetoric Edge | Start with +2 Inspiration Points in the Gift of Gab minigame. |

What is Pitch Pot?
Pitch Pot is a game where you compete against another player or the computer. You use your keyboard, mouse, or controller to keep a marker steady inside a moving circle on the screen for a certain amount of time. Whoever can keep it most stable wins! The ‘Drunken Precision’ perk makes it easier to balance by reducing the time you need to hold it steady.
Drunken Precision is a skill you turn on during a Pitch Pot game to make aiming faster.
What is Gift of Gab?
Gift of Gab is a game where you argue against an opponent by playing sentence cards. Each card has a unique effect – some cause damage, others provide healing or helpful abilities – and they all cost ‘inspiration’ to use. The Rhetoric Edge skill gives you a starting bonus of +2 inspiration.
What are Aspiration Talents and Aspiration Attributes?
Where Winds Meet features 11 key attributes: Resolve, Elegance, Perception, Coordination, Intelligence, Musicality, Constitution, Erudition, Memory, Mindset, and Ambition. While Ambition increases automatically as you gain levels, the other attributes are improved by playing a variety of minigames – each attribute is tied to two or three different ones.
Our tests show that you can unlock the Aspiration Talent you didn’t choose at the beginning by playing just two or three of the related minigames. For example, if you selected Rhetoric Edge when creating your character in WWM, you’ll unlock Drunken Precision after finishing three Pitch Pot games.
You can find Total Aspiration Attributes and Aspiration Talents by going to the Start Menu, then Develop, then Details (located in the right corner of the screen), followed by Exploration Mastery, and finally Exploration Attributes.
Should You Choose Drunken Precision or Rhetoric Edge in Where Winds Meet?
Whether to choose Drunken Precision or Rhetoric Edge in Where Winds Meet depends on which minigame you struggle with more. We found that Rhetoric Edge is generally better because the Gift of Gab minigame is more complicated than the Pitch Pot minigame.
The game requires players to quickly read cards and plan their moves against a ticking clock. While Rhetoric Edge doesn’t drastically change the gameplay, it does offer some relief from the time pressure during these challenges.
Pitch Pot is a significantly simpler minigame than Gift of Gab. Although Drunken Precision helps with winning, it’s not really a difficult game to begin with, particularly when playing against computer opponents.
