Where was Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story filmed? Filming locations from Charlie Hunnam’s new show

Monster, the popular anthology TV series, is returning for a third season. Previous seasons focused on the lives of Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez brothers. This time, the show will tell the story of Ed Gein, with Charlie Hunnam portraying him in the latest season of the Netflix show.

The show will transport audiences to Plainfield, Wisconsin – the home of Ed Gein and the setting for the disturbing true story told in Monster: The Ed Gein Story.

Where was Monster: The Ed Gein Story filmed?

Many people are curious about where the TV series was filmed – specifically, if it was shot in Plainfield, or if another town stood in for it. Let’s clarify the location for you.

The film crew didn’t film the third season of Monster in Plainfield. They chose Illinois instead, specifically the town of Momence, which they transformed into a 1950s setting for several weeks. The series, starring Charlie Hunnam, was filmed on East Washington Street and in the downtown area, among other locations. Residents of Momence frequently spotted the film crew and even got a glimpse of the actors in their costumes.

And there’s more! In Monster: The Ed Gein Story, we’ll also get a look at the Saunemin Tap, which is located in the village of Saunemin, about an hour from Momence.

Filming happened in a couple of locations. The team and actors were seen shooting on the streets of Los Angeles, California, and in Pullman, Chicago, Illinois. While filming in Chicago, classic cars from the 1950s were parked near the Florence Hotel.

Essentially, the team working on Monster: The Ed Gein Story moved around quite a bit, filming in Los Angeles, Chicago, Momence, Saunemin, and Woodstock during the production of the Netflix series.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story will be available on Netflix on October 30.
