Where to Find the Western Bridge Key in No Rest for the Wicked

As you progress in No Rest for the Wicked, especially when aiming for Sacrament or gathering Saltstone, you’ll likely encounter locked doors. Some of these doors need the Western Bridge Key, and finding the keys themselves can be tricky – they aren’t always easy to spot.

The Western Bridge Key isn’t something you can simply discover while exploring. You’ll need to advance the game’s story and finish certain tasks to obtain it.

Here’s a guide to finding the Western Bridge Key in No Rest for the Wicked and what it unlocks.

Western Bridge Key Location

You get the Western Bridge Key by completing the side quest ‘The Innkeeper’s Husband’. This quest becomes available after you finish the first main story quest.

As you approach the town of Sacrament, you’ll meet Caroline, the innkeeper. She’s the one who will offer you a quest. Her husband recently traveled to an area on the map known as The Shallows.

I see Caroline hanging out near the inn. Apparently, I can make the inn even better by doing a town project. To start that, I need to chat with Danos, who’s usually in the town square. Sounds like a good next step!

Once you accept the quest, a marker will appear on your map near the Saltborn Tower Whisper in The Shallows. You can reach the tower by running there, or by fast traveling if you’ve already unlocked that location.

After you climb the tower, you’ll find Gordon, the innkeeper’s husband, on the bridge. A small blue light is right in front of him – interact with it to get the Western Bridge Key.

After you speak with Gordon, he’ll need your help with the ladder to reach the top of the next tower. Get ready for a lot of enemies – you’ll be fighting them for the remainder of the quest.

Using the Western Bridge Key and Finishing the Quest

After getting the Western Bridge Key, head north as if you’re returning to Sacramento. If you previously unlocked the ladders north of where you found Gordon, you can use them to get to the door faster.

If the ladders are still locked, enter the fort through the hole in the wall beside the fire, which is to the right of the Saltborn Tower Whisper. Once inside, turn left and climb the tower.

Once you reach the top of the tower, you’ll find a staircase leading to a door. Use the Western Bridge Key to open it and continue into the northeastern section of The Shallows. Be careful, as there are several enemies in that area.

Go around this way to the tower overlooking the bridge where you first saw Gordon. He’ll ask you to lower the ladder so he can climb up.

Once you’ve put the ladder down, talk to Gordon to complete the quest and receive cooking ingredients as a reward.
